Online Chemical Engineering Courses & Certifications

The ‘Upstream LNG Technology’ training program is a National Program for Technology Enhanced Learning online free course developed by the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. The informative course is provided on the Swayam online education platform for the students of undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The online training is scheduled for twelve weeks and the course study is guided by Prof Pavitra Sandilya from the cryogenic engineering center in IIT Kharagpur assisted by two other research scholars. This faculty development program is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education and is part of the chemical engineering and physics category. The participants of this online program will gain three credit points and a course completion certificate after completing the course and clearing the exam with the required mandates. The ‘Flow Through Porous Media’ National Program for Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) online course describes the classification and application of porous media flow with an understanding of industrial applications. This course is provided on the Swayam online education platform to the students of undergraduate, and postgraduate level from various disciplines of engineering which includes petroleum, biochemical, soil science, geotechnical, and hydrology. This elective course is developed and offered by the Indian Institute of Technology(IIT) Kharagpur.

This faculty development program on porous media flow will take twelve weeks to complete the course. The course instructor for the AICTE approved online training program is Prof. Somenath Ganguly from the department of chemical engineering at IIT Kharagpur. The candidates who take this elective course will be provided with three credits for their undergraduate or postgraduate program. Along with the course credits, the eligible students can get the course certificate which consists of the logos of NPTEL and IIT Kharagpur.

The Transport Processes I: Heat and Mass Transfer certification course will focus on a fundamental understanding of the area in unit operations that include mixing, heating/cooling, reactions, and flow, physical and chemical conversions of raw materials to products are achieved. The success of these processes depends significantly on the heat and mass transfer borne along with flowing fluid and across solid/fluid interfaces.

The Transport Processes I: Heat and Mass Transfer training will focus on enhancing the comprehensive structure of the respective programme. The course will undertake transport through interfaces due solely to molecular diffusion, which is the transport of concentration or temperature gradients in a stationary fluid. In unit operations, the combination of convection (transport by moving fluids) and diffusion determines the transport rate and the overall performance.

The Transport Processes I: Heat and Mass Transfer certification will be provided at the end of the course. The candidate will acquire a physical understanding in this course of how the equilibrium between convection and diffusion influences the total transfer speeds in chemical systems and gives rise to many of the methodological parallels used in the design of chemical engineering. The course is structured as 12-week online comprehensive training along with industrial support for the course.

The Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics online course imparts knowledge to all the learners related to topics such as evaluation of laws of thermodynamics, its application, and chemical and physical process of chemistry, etc. This course provides information on the basic and key concepts of thermodynamics that would help the participants achieve their academic as well as professional goals. The online certification course is an All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)-approved FDP course. Physical and Electrochemical Characterizations in Chemical Engineering online course is an eight-week long online course that can be enrolled free of cost. Yet, the learners must score the required mark in the exam and pay the exam fee to get the certificate of completion. 

Offered by Swayam, the Physical and Electrochemical Characterizations in Chemical Engineering Certification Course will discuss physical and chemical characterizations in chemical engineering broadly. The course will talk about mechanical stability, spectroscopy, electrochemical characterizations, and whatnot. The Colloids and Surfaces online course is an 8-week elective program offered by Swayam, the education ministry, Government of India. The course lecture is delivered by the IIT Madras faculty and it’s totally free. If the candidate wants to receive certification, they will have to pass an in-person examination at designated centres. The exam cost will be Rs. 1,000. This course covers the foundations of nanoparticle science and colloids, with applications of these topics presented whenever possible. The Colloids and Surfaces syllabus includes the introduction and characterization of colloids, electrical double layer interactions, polymer interactions, electrokinetics and particles at interfaces, etc. 

The Chemical Process Control online course is an 8 weekly program offered by Swayam, an initiative by the government of India. The simulation model of chemical engineering projects will be the first topic covered in this course, and it will inform candidates how these systems act. After figuring out their behavior, the Chemical Process Control training teaches candidates to use a control system to steer it in the desired direction. Finally, candidates will demonstrate how this may be accomplished in the most intelligent manner utilizing a sophisticated controller.

The introductory course of Phase equilibrium thermodynamics by Swayam is designed in such a way that helps candidates get the knowledge one the fundamental subjects for understanding processes of separation and interfacial mass transfer, such as, solvent extraction, distillation etc.

The Soft Nano Technology programme aims to introduce candidates to the patterning of thin films and the applications of Nano-patterned films and surfaces. Some basic concepts of surface tension and wetting will be discussed, besides Photo-lithography and nano-imprint lithography. Candidates will also learn about the Atomic force microscope, a crucial instrument used in nanotechnology research.

The Soft Nano Technology course is curated by IIT Kharagpur and is taught by Professor Rabibrata Mukerjee, an institute's eminent faculty. It is an elective programme, which can be completed in eight weeks. It is designed for UG and PG level students and can also be pursued by Ph.D. level students. It is an AICTE approved FDP course which falls under the category of Chemical Engineering.

The Soft Nano Technology certification is an online programme offering the option for self-paced learning. There is plenty of reference material and video tutorials which the candidates can access at their convenience. Swayam will also issue a digital certificate to candidates who take the proctored exam and meet the required minimum marks criteria.

The Mass Momentum and Energy Balances in Engineering Analysis is 8-week online certification. The course is ideally prepared for undergraduate and postgraduate students from chemical, mechanical, aerospace, ocean, naval and geological engineering. Mass Momentum and Energy Balances in Engineering Analysis Certification Course is offered by Swayam and IIT Kharagpur. It is approved by the AICTE.

‘The Trace and ultra-trace analysis of metals using atomic absorption spectrometry’ is a free online course of the National Program for Technology Enhanced Learning(NPTEL) and is developed and offered by the Indian Institute of Science(IISC) Bangalore. This  AICTE approved course is provided on the Swayam online education portal for the students and professionals involved in the domain of chemistry, chemical engineering, environmental science, and civil engineering.

This faculty development program is conducted for eight weeks by the course educator Dr. J R Mudakavi, a former faculty member of the department of chemical engineering in IISC Bangalore.
