Swayam Political Science Courses & Certifications

The Indian Government and Politics course being offered by Swayam is a core course in B.A. Political Science under the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). This course has been designed to provide the learner's knowledge and understanding about the functional, philosophical and theoretical aspects of the Indian Politics. 

The course will give an in-sight into the diverse perspectives regarding the Indian Political System along with the Social movements and constitutional provisions. Participants of the course will be given a detailed understanding of the fundamentals of Indian Political System from varied perspectives, the philosophical basis of our Indian Constitution, implementation of the Directive Principles of State Policy and Fundamental Rights as given in the Constitution, Institutional composition and functions of Indian Polity, Social concerns in India and Political approaches towards them, Political Economy of our State and the nature and impetus of the various social movements in India.

Access, Equity, and Quality are the three building blocks of the Indian Education Policy. The foundation of ‘Swayam’ has been solely laid for the purpose of attainment of all the three principles through its Platform for free, to aid in the learning of school-dropouts or professionals or those with financial and economical disadvantages, from Class 9 level up to even Post-Graduation.

Keeping in mind the unavailability of Physical Resources, economical shortcomings and lack of an adequate platform, the Government has employed more than thousands of learned faculties, specially appointed for the job and is constantly making efforts to make the candidates digitally educated.

The programme is named ‘Swayam’ symbolising the process of self-learning and self-efficient nature of the initiative. The programme aims to bridge the digital gap among the digitally unhinged masses of students and technology itself. Even those who’re underprivileged and deprived of digital exposure and knowledge can pursue the Political Ideologies Certification programme from their home and fulfil their educational requirements.

The course has four different methods included in its teaching- learning dynamic to strengthen the understanding of the candidate and to ensure a complete understanding. The four methods are- Video Lectures, Doubt-solving Forum, Digital Reading Material, and Tests and Quizzes for practice.

National Coordinators like NCERT, IGNOU, NIOS, AICTE, NPTEL CEC, UGC, IIMB, and NITTTR are responsible for evaluating the standards and process of education being provided by Swayam. The main goal is to give Higher Education its due importance.

The Introduction to Political Theory by SWAYAM is spread across 12-weeks of learning. Learners will understand the concepts behind politics through theories and environmental studies. They will be able to comprehend the political ideologies that support society and are empowered to voice their independent opinions on democracy and politics.

Set at an undergraduate level of study, the Introduction to Political Theory certification syllabus explores concepts of equality, justice, liberty, and freedom in a country. Once students complete the learning module for the week, they can progress to the next topic. Students will receive book references to go through when in doubt.

Developed by IIT Guwahati, this introductory course is open for all students involved in engineering, social sciences, and humanities subjects. Professor Mithilesh Kumar instructs online training. The ‘Cognition, Transformation and Lives’ online course is developed to enable the students to understand and comprehend the act of transformation from within and the psychological perspective towards transformation from the life of Mahatma Gandhi. This online certification program is provided by the Swayam online education portal and the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL). The classes of this online course that are categorized under the domain of humanities and social sciences are held for four weeks.
