The best part of being an IAS aspirant is that Bachelor's degree of any discipline is allowed. Which means that you can pursue graduation in any subject of your passion and interest and can still select the relevant subjects in your Mains for preparation. It is infact a wise decision to have a plan B incase Plan A doesnt work. CBSE has released a list of 113 courses that a student can pursue post 12th. You can check them at their official website. If you are passionate about Biology, you can study B.Sc in Biology/Botany/Zoology/Microbiology/Biotechnology/Fisheries/Agricultural Sciences. These all subjects allow you to pursue your Masters and also appear for UGC NET. If you qualify in UGC NET, you will be recruited as an Assistant Professor. So these subjects can land you with jobs after your Masters. Now talking about UPSC. We are sure that you are aware of the fact that UPSC has 3 stages of exams. Preliminary, Mains and Final. Preliminary exams is just a screening test and is all about testing your General Knowledge and your awareness on Current affairs. The Maims exam is where what you have studied in your Bachelor's come in handy. You get to choose 2 subjects of your interest and the exam will be based on the subjects you choose. So this is your chance to score good because this is your field of academic expertise. Even if you study Biology in yout Bachelor's degree, you can still study the same and prepare for Mains.

hey sanjai,

you can do bsc courses in zoology and botany even if you do not clear NEET exam.

along with pursuing bsc you can prepare for UPSC exams to become IAS officer.

qualification to write UPSC exam is that the aspirant must have any bachelor degree with him/her.

hope this helps.

good luck...!!!
