Hey Diya:)
Thanks for reaching out!
Unfortunately, with 54.6% in FMGE you won't be eligible for JIPMER because for general category they need a minimum of 55%. Since JIPMER admissions are only through INI-CET,the same rule applies there too.So you can't appear for this exam with your current score.Don't worry, you can still go through the NEET-PG route, because most states and universities that accept NEET-PG only needs FMGE pass certificate along with NMC registration and internship completion, not 55% cutoff. So, while JIPMER is out of reach, you still have a clear chance through NEET-PG and state counselling.
All the best!
Hello,
It Depends on the campus (Karaikal and Puducherry) and the category. For instance, the OBC cutoff was 592 in 2023, where as the general cut off for JIPMER Puducherry was around 277. The closing ranks for the Karaikal and Puducherry campuses in 2024 were around 2862 and 350, respectively. In general, the Karaikal campus has a higher rank and lower cutoff than the Puducherry campus.
2023: general-277, OBC - 592
2024: Puducherry - 350, Karaikal - 2862

Hi Khan Abdul Rahman, congratulations on securing 350 rank overall in the All India exam! You have a good chance of getting admission in JIPMER Pondicherry college, which has 150 MBBS seats, including 21 reserved for minority categories like yours. Since you belong to the minority category and have a certificate, you might get reservation benefits. To get admission, you need to clear the JIPMER entrance exam and fulfill the eligibility criteria.
Hello,
While students from the northern part of India might initially face some language barriers at JIPMER, it's not a significant or insurmountable obstacle . JIPMER , like other medical colleges in South India, conducts classes primarily in English . While some professors may use Tamil for explanations, it doesn't hinder the overall learning experience. Students can easily learn basic Tamil words and phrases for interacting with patients during clinical postings.
Thank you!!
hi,
Congrats on getting MPH admission at NIMHANS! It’s actually a really good institute, especially if you’re interested in mental health, neurology, or public health connected to these areas. If you want to focus on mental health and related public health work, NIMHANS is honestly one of the best places in India.
But if you’re aiming for a wider exposure in public health—like working in big hospitals, international health projects, community medicine, or policy making—then AIIMS or JIPMER might give you more variety and bigger opportunities. AIIMS usually has the best overall exposure, more research options, and a stronger public health network across India and even abroad.
Hi Varsha,
The EWS category cutoff for JIPMER's MD Dermatology program (Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy) is 18907, compared to 23295 in 2024. This means the cutoff rank for EWS candidates decreased in 2025. The cutoff score for EWS in 2024 was 621 according to the sources.
These cutoff scores are based on the INI-CET (Institute of National Importance - Common Entrance Test) exam results, which is used for admissions to various postgraduate medical courses at JIPMER. The actual cutoff may vary depending on factors like the number of seats available, the overall performance of candidates, and other institutional policies.
I hope this helps.
Hello Aspirant,
Given your INICET 2025 score of 573 in OBC category, you definitely have a chance for Pediatrics at JIPMER. I cannot guarantee you the seat as admission not only depends on score but also on the total number of candidates, cut-off marks specified for different categories and availability of seats in that year. Based on my personal experience of preparing for INICET for the past two years, generally, more than 570 score in OBC category is competitive, but you realize or know this may vary technically for final allotment.
JIPMER is best for paramedical and medical courses in pondicherry. our classrooms are equipped with modern teaching aids and practical labs are highly advanced with real-time exposure to medical equipment used in anaesthesia and surgery.
For MPH there only 18 seats, I was fortunate enough to get admission, air conditioned classrooms, Hostel is above average, mess could be better. hostel room has all the required things, cupboard, bedding etc. has a playground and library.
As we all know that this college is best for medical line studies any one who is interested should take admission in it and if I talk about the college infrastructure so it is best and have all facilities here
