Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) was established in 2007 and awarded the status of deemed university by UGC. This college is situated in Thiruvananthapuram on  Valiamala Road in the town of Valiamala, Kerala. This is the first college in Asia which is solely devoted to the study and research of outer space.

The placement structure is different for different courses. For BE/BTech the median salary for the year 2020 was around 7.6 lakhs, for M.E /M. Tech the median salary for the year 2020 was 8 lakhs.

In the year 2020 total of 42 students got placed out of which one of them got the highest package of 11.6 LPA

Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology is a institute of national importance which imparts courses in space science and engineering. The institute provides admission on the basis of the JEE ADVANCED examination into course such as Aerospace Engineering, Avionics etc. The best thing about IIST is that if you have a score of 8.0 CGPA and above in your semesters, then you will be able to get placed directly as an Scientist or Engineer in ISRO.

To qualify in IIST you need Citizenship status: Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply for admission. (2) Date of Birth: General, EWS and OBC-NCL categories candidates must have been born on or after October 1,1995 . If you belong to SC/ ST and PD categories you must have born on or after October 1, 1990.

The campus is located in Valiamala, which is about 25 kms from Thiruvananthapuram city.
