Well then at what marks and rank can a general category student can get any IIT this year according to you ? Also please justify your answer. VMC is predicting 8k-9k rank at these marks , considering a difficult paper and less appearing students compared to last year. Please suggest other options too , like drop , etc.  

But VMC is predicting it to be around 9k , this year's paper was a bit difficult than last year and less students appeared. Is there any hope for any IIT at 9k rank for general category student?
