Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pune Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

The institute has three hostels located on a residential campus aside from staff quarters, one for boys. Adequate hostel accommodation is available for the existing students. The Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics boys hostel provides quality living in a homely atmosphere, it is a home away from home for students from all parts of the country. All the rooms are allotted on a sharing basis. The hostel has its own mess providing hygienic and nutritious meals a day.

The institute has three hostels located on a residential campus aside from staff quarters, two for girls. Adequate hostel accommodation is available for the existing students. The girls’ hostel was designed by the famous architect and urban planner Christopher Charles Benninger during 1996-1998. The hostel provides quality living in a homely atmosphere, it is a home away from home for students from all parts of the country. All the rooms are allotted on a sharing basis. The hostel has its own mess providing hygienic and nutritious meals a day.

Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics library facilities are provided to both students and faculty. The library possesses about 2.80 lakh collection of books and periodicals on the 3-floor library building. The ground floor has a core collection of economics, reference material and M.Sc. textbooks. The first floor has bound volumes and loose latest periodicals. The bound back volumes are more than 2000 periodical titles. The second floor possesses an almost unbroken series of proceedings of both Union and State legislation in India. A large collection of reports of commissions and committees appointed by the Government of India, the UK, and the US are also available in the library. The third floor contains History, Geography, Politics, Social Science and Computer Science related materials. The basement floor possesses a depository collection of UN, the European Country, International Court of justice, International Monetary fund, and World Bank reports.

The GIPE has an excellent IT Infrastructure facility for the students. This lab is a multi-purpose technology and collaborative workspace. The lab is dedicated to meeting the teaching, learning, and research needs of the faculty, staff, and students. Additionally, the Research Commons is equipped with more than 40 PCs.

Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics Pune sports facilities are provided to the students. These sports facilities support both indoor and outdoor sports. Students are encouraged to take part in various sports activities.

Alumni Associations provide students with good networking opportunities. The institute organises alumni meets where students get to meet their alumni and learn from their experiences.

The institute has one well-equipped auditorium with all the modern facilities and a fully air-conditioned seminar hall with a seating capacity of 70 people. In addition, a separate Conference room with a seating capacity of 20 persons is available for conducting meetings. And also there is an Auditorium Kale Hall with a seating capacity of 300 for organising large conferences and workshops. The seminar hall, as well as the Kale Hall, witnessed several seminars and talks in which outsiders came and participated. Some of the names which immediately come to mind are Leontief, Amartya Sen, and Joan Robinson who became Noble laureates in course of time.

The Institute Residential campus has a well-furnished Guest House which consists of 12 Rooms. The guest house is primarily meant for official guests of the Institute/participants of Seminars/ Workshops/ Conferences, organised by the Institute/Departments as well as those sponsored by the Government and the UGC.

The cafeteria facility is provided to both students and staff. The cafeteria and its surroundings are always kept neat and clean. The food provided at the cafeteria is affordable by everyone.

Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics medical facilities are provided to both students and staff. The medical facilities include first aid facility, general treatment and emergency treatment in times of emergency.

Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics Pune provides gym facility to the students. The gym consists of all the required equipment. Students can go to the gym either in the morning or in the evening.

Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics Pune classrooms are modernised and equipped with state-of-the-art desks, seating, and teaching assistance products. They have the facility to record the instructor and the board and conduct in-person and virtual classes at the same time.
