Jhargram is a new university, which was established in the year of 2021, in West Bengal. The name of the university is Sadhu Ram Chand Murmu University of Jhargram. It is a young institute of higher learning and is recognised by the University Grants Commission of India, and is located on a vast area of 27.02 acres. The university is relatively young, and yet it aims to deliver educational services and programmes in different fields. It currently has four postgraduate programmes, two in arts and one each in science and mass communication, to capture different concentration areas.

It will be pertinent to note that the university has important equipment and facilities to facilitate its academics. The library with books, journals, and other learning materials ensures that it provides learning materials for use by students and also facilitates learning among faculty. Moreover, the university has various departmental laboratories where practical things are taught mainly for the students who intend to study science. These facilities have the noble task of improving the practical and theoretical experience of the students.

At present, Sadhu Ram Chand Murmu University of Jhargram has only four full-time postgraduate programmes, all of which have a two-year duration. The programmes are B.Sc Mathematics, MA Santali, MA English and MA Journalism & Mass Communication. The variety of the disciplines interpreted concerns the deserved desire of the university to create a broad spectrum of educational opportunities to develop the students’ potential and to prepare them for further professional practice.
