GNM course offers on ground training to the candidates to gain practical experience.The sole purpose of the course is to address the needs of the patients with the help of clinical methodologies by making the candidates ready.
GNM Course Details
- GNM course, full form General Nursing and Midwifery is a 3.5 years duration clinical nursing course .It is diploma level course, suitable for those who want to pursue career in clinical nursing.
- GNM admission is done through Entrance examinations conducted by various State departments across India. The GNM Nursing Admission process takes place both through direct admission or through entrance exams.
- The 3.5 years of GNM duration are divided into 3 years of education and 6 months of mandatory internship. Students get to do internships in Nursing Homes, Hospitals and even Private Medical Firms and Companies. This is suitable for those who are interested in assisting sick people and helping doctors in various hospitals.
- Top GNM jobs in India include Pharmaceutical Industry, Technical Industry, Research Labs, etc.
- After GNM, students have the scope of entering the job sector or either pursuing a Master's degree or a PhD.
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum education eligibility criteria for admission to GNM:10+2 with English and must have obtained a minimum of 40% at the qualifying examination and English individually for anyrecognized board. Candidates are also eligible from State Open School recognized Candidates are also eligible from State Open School recognized by State Government and National Institute of Open School (NIOS) recognized by Central Government. However Science is preferable.10+2 with English having 40% of marks in vocational ANM course from the school recognized by Indian Nursing council.
10+2 with English having 40% of marks in Vocational Stream-Health care Science from a recognized CBSE board/Centre.
Registered ANM with pass mark.
Admission Details
- Direct Admissions::
Candidates are selected on the basis of their marks scored in the Intermediate examination. After the board results are out, the college will release their cut-off scores. If candidates have scored more than or equal to the cut-off scores of the intended college, they will be eligible for enrollment at that institute.
- Merit Admissions::
The second way for the admission of the candidate to this course is done on the basis of the entrance exam. In this pathway, candidates are selected on the basis of their marks scored in the entrance examinations of an institute.
