The Raichur University, Karnataka is a University of Agricultural Sciences which was established in the year 2009 at Raichur. Recognised by the University Grant Commission (UGC), UAS Raichur provides numerous programmes in the field of agricultural sciences and technological study. NAAC is the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, and the university is recognised by the council. UAS Raichur is a large university with a 745 acre campus; it has 780 students and 42 faculty members. Currently, the university provides 51 courses towards 7 degree levels of study with specialisation in different disciplines of agriculture. Its diversified student community comprises 51% male and 49% female gender distribution and 92% of the campuses students from within the state while 8% from outside the state of Karnataka.

UAS Raichur has modern day amenities to cater to its academic programmes and student activities frolics. There are well endowed laboratories, a library with all essentials books and journals and information technology to support research and learning activities on the campus. There are separate hostels for boys and girls each allowing students to live in comfort and safety. Continued on the belief of comprehensive human development, the university holds sporting accommodation and gymnasium to ensure the bulk of the students are fit and strong physically as they improve their scholarship. Food is available from a cafeteria all being healthy meal providers, banks and ATMs are also found in campus. It also has a medical centre where all students, with a variety of health conditions, go to get attended to. Besides, UAS Raichur has an auditorium for conducting academic and cultural programmes and stimulates the campus life.

UAS Raichur curriculum and courses With regards to academic, the University offers diploma, under graduate, post graduate, doctoral degrees in agricultural studies. The university offers fifty one regular courses offered in different specialisations in agricultural sciences as well as engineering. They are the full time B.Sc. (Hons) in agriculture, Master of Science, Diploma in Agriculture Hons. and Master of Technology in diverse agricultural specialties and doctoral programmes in the specialised areas. Currently, the total student enrolment is 780; among them, the focus is brought to postgraduate education since all the SCSt students are enroled in PG programmes. In the last academic year, only 274 students graduated from the university, they were able to ensure employable professional in the agricultural field.

Students joining UAS Raichur have to fulfil admission requirements due to merit since they need to meet certain pass marks in their previous working record. Courses such as B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture; Marks obtained in the Qualifying examination and CET Marks in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology (PCMB) with equal weight for both are considered for admission. The university also administers its own exercise aptitude tests for various programmes on offer at the institution. Admission to different courses at UAS Raichur is based on the scores obtained in the popular agricultural entrance tests.
