Avila College of Education was established in August, 1995, and is an affiliated college located in Ernakulam district in Kerala. This recognised institution affiliated by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has specialisation in teacher education. Located in a small area of 5 acres of land, total number of students of the college are 208 and teachers’ strength of the college is 22. Avila College of Education provides two educational focused programmes for students who would like to become teachers on the bachelors and masters degrees.

In fact, Avila College of Education institute could do with the best to ensure that it provides the learners with an effective environment to learn in. It has a rich collection of books which include over 12,000 books of which 2,500 books are reference books and it subscribes to 36 journals of which four are international journals. Services provided by the library include access of the journal and open educational resources accessible online. In practical trainings, it has offices for clinical experience, work experience, steel-arc welding, coking and bakery, domestic science clinical and general, cooking, carved-furniture, weaving scarf-pins, dressmaking, chalk making, book binding, psychology laboratory and etc. To support students’ leisure and optional activities, the campus provides teams’ facilities, a fitness centre, and an auditorium. Technological formations facilitate today’s knowledge acquisition, and a health centre with first-aid amenities takes care of students’ health. For any female students that needs accommodation, the college assists on hostels provided by Palladian Sisters and Franciscan Sisters within the vicinity of the college.

Avila College of Education provides two full time courses in teacher education. The programs are (B.Ed) and Masters of Education (M.Ed). Such programs are intended to be undertaken within a course of two years. 

Admission procedure of Avila College of Education is based on the marks scored by the students in the qualifying examination and/or entrance exam, whichever applied. Admission options of the college are in accordance with the norms of the State Government of Kerala as well as the university to which the college is affiliated.
