Dr Ambedkar Institute of Technology for Handicapped, Kanpur was established in the year 1997 by the Government of Uttar Pradesh under the Societies Registration Act 1860. The college is recognised under the UGC Act 1956 and the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection Rights and Full Partnership) Act 1995. The institute is affiliated with Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University Lucknow (AKTU). The institute offers various courses at the undergraduate and postgraduation. These courses include B.Tech and Diploma courses. In B.Tech courses 60% seat are reserved for PwC candidates and diploma courses are designed specially for them.

AITH Kanpur admission to these courses are done on the basis of entrance examination like JEE-Cup and JEE-Mains. Candidates qualifying the selection process are considered for admission. AICTE Swanath Scholarship for Students	The students must be an orphan/either or both parents died due to Covid-19/ward of armed forces and central paramilitary forces martyred in action. Family income is not more than Rs. 8 lakhs per annum. Currently studying in AICTE approved institutions and courses at degree or diploma level in regular mode.
Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships for College and University Students	Passed class 10+2 level examination and obtained a minimum of 80 percentile. Must be pursuing a regular course from a recognised university.	Rs.10,000 per annum at graduation level for the first three years of college and university courses Rs. 20,000 per annum at the post-graduate level.
Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship for Professional and Technical Courses	Secured not less than 50% marks in the previous final examination.
