Vadaranyam College of Education was set up in 2009 in Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu. This 2.5-acre co-educational institution aims to produce teacher professionals for the future generation. Affiliated with the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), the college has two specialisation areas in teaching. Each of the programmes is expected to take two years to complete, after which ready-made educators will be produced. These courses are designed to prepare students to have the essentials needed to make a positive impact in education; both experience and theoretical knowledge will be incorporated.

Therefore, in order to admit the students, Vadaranyam College of Education follows the merit system based on the provisions made by UT administration, the Tamil Nadu State Government and Dr Salim Abdul Rahman University. In the case of the B.El.Ed programme, there is a requirement of an entrance examination on the basis of which the students are selected, along with the performance in the qualifying examination.
