Hello there,

The discrepancy in your allotment through PGCET despite your rank (3300) and category (ST) could be due to several factors specific to this year’s admission trends:

  1. Increased Competition : The number of candidates in your category applying for MCA at PES University or Dayananda Sagar may have increased this year, raising the effective cutoff ranks.

  2. Changes in Seat Matrix : Seat allocation for different categories, including ST, might have been revised this year. Fewer seats in these colleges for your category can significantly impact cutoffs.

  3. Reservation Quotas : There could have been adjustments in the quota for various categories, leading to a shift in rank preferences for top colleges.

  4. First-Preference Impact : Admission to a preferred college also depends on the number of candidates ahead of you who marked PES or Dayananda Sagar as their first choices.

  5. Late Option Entry or Choice Filling Errors : If your choices weren’t ordered optimally or submitted late, you might have been allocated RNSIT based on availability when your turn came.

  6. Higher Preferences for RNSIT by Others : Some students might prioritize RNSIT over PES or Dayananda Sagar for reasons like proximity, affordability, or personal preferences, affecting the seat availability for your category.

    Suggested Steps:

  • Document Verification : Ensure your category was correctly considered during allotment.

  • Check Vacancy Round : Keep an eye on spot rounds or vacancy seats in your preferred colleges, as they might open up due to cancellations.

  • Appeal if Necessary : If you suspect an error, approach the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) for clarification.

This year's deviations are likely influenced by increased demand and changing allocation trends.

Candidates for Round 1 Karnataka PGCET 2024 for MCA called for fee payment and counselling process is still going on so this is the first round there are more rounds to go thats why cutoff rank is not similar to previous year.

If you want to take chance for pes university and dayanand sagar of engineering you should wait till the further counselling process but remember it is not sure that you will get these colleges as this depends on various factors.
