For taking admission in VNIT your rank should be around 36k if you belong from home state general category and 31k for other state general category.Marks may vary as the level of question paper but you have to secure your rank around this figure.for more details you may visit following link

CSE ends at around 7000 rank

ECE- 12000 rank

Mechanical- 15000 rank

Electrical- 12000 rank

Civil- 18000 rank

Mining- 38000 rank

Metallurgy-30000 rank

chemical- 21000 rank

basically, you should have a rank below 25,000 to opt for core branches
