Hey,
Communication and VLSI are two different branches and requires different approach and expectations from a student.So be sure of your calling.You must know why you want to pursue a particular course before pondering over things like placements.
Now,coming to your question. See,both Communication in Surathkal and VLSI in Allahabad can be good options.Both these universities are good.Companies do come to these places but ultimately it is you who has to clear the selection procedure for which you must work hard on equipping yourself with the necessary skills and also try doing internships that give edge to your application.
