Batch of 2019 | BA Economics Hons
Being an economics background student studying in a school in Delhi, only dreamt to study in Delhi University. But since the day I entered the gates of Ambedkar university I have never looked back and wished to take a transfer to any other college because the surrounding of the ambedkar university was the most welcoming surrounding I had ever seen in life. Life at AUD is exciting and has a new touch to it every day. The faculty is the best part of amazing. They come up with challenging tasks and assignments to keep students up to date with the education. At the end, i can only praise my college for what it means to me and all my fellow student.

Ambedkar university, upcoming Mini JNU

Ambedkar University, unlike other universities in its space, provided us with ample amount of space to think and question things happening in and around our society. I feel lucky to be provided with diverse options of subjects to study from and at the same time we were given freedom to choose whichever subject we wished to study because of the presence of multi-disciplinary approach in education. it was very common for me to find a psychology student in an economics class or a literature student in a psychology class, we were given freedom to choose subjects from different fields unless and until timetable doesn't clash. otherwise, there is rigor in college studies, it cannot be taken for granted otherwise a year back may be on cards for those who ignore college. Overall Ambedkar University is a great place to grow and learn, most faculty is from JNU and AUD is also known as Mini JNU from its counterparts because of the liberal atmosphere present here.

This University is an upcoming one, with a campus as green as it could be. There are unique and varied courses offered specially at the Masters level. The faculty is well qualified and has a lot of experience, having taught in several Universities along with this one.

About College:

The Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University is now known simply as the Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD). As the name suggests, the state university is located in the national capital of New Delhi. It is UGC (University Grants Commission) approved and occupies a total of sixteen acres of land. The AUD is named after the architect of the Indian Constitution, and one of the foremost freedom fighters. The university has also been accredited by the NAAC (National Assessments and Accreditation Council), earning an A grade rating in the latter. A separate IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell) has been created to this end, to ensure that all the terms of the NAAC are complied with. An AQAR (Annual Quality Assurance Report) gets generated to quantify the results.

The Ambedkar University Delhi was established in the year 2008. It is a multi- campus but as of now, a non- affiliating university. Presently, it operates three campuses with one each on Lodhi Road, Kashmere Gate and in Karampura. Two new campuses are being developed, one each at Rohini and Dheerpur. Courses are run here right from the UG till doctoral levels. The entire academics here at the AUD is run by a cohort of twelve schools, each possessing expertise in its own area. The schools are here for the academic areas of- Design, Letters, Development Studies, Human Studies, Education Studies, Liberal Studies, Vocational Studies, Human Ecology and for Culture & Creative Expressions. There is also the School of Law, Governance and Citizenship. Another is the School of Business, Public Policy and Social Entrepreneurship.

A separate School of Undergraduate Studies looks into the entire academics at that level. Some conventional courses offered here are in the areas of Economics, History, English, Mathematics, Sociology, Psychology and in Law & Politics. The primary aim of this university is to facilitate education towards the humanities and social sciences. Some innovative programmes are also on offer here, in the areas of Global Studies and in Sustainable Urbanism. All these are B.A. courses, but in addition some vocational courses may also be taken up under the B. Voc. scheme. They can be done in Retail Management, Entrepreneurship and in Tourism & Hospitality.

At the master’s level, the courses available are a bit more specialized here. MA programmes may be pursued by the enrolled students in the areas of- Sociology, Economics, History, English, Psychology, Film Studies, Performance Studies, Gender Studies, Development Studies, Global Studies, Urban Studies, Education, Visual Art Practice, Literary Art Creative Writing and for Environment & Development. Another is the MA in Law, Politics and Society. Besides the MA, there is also the M. Des. in Social Design. An MBA may also be undertaken here. The School of MBA has been highly proactive when it comes to forging international ties. These help in research collaborations, exchange programmes and in generating consulting assignments. These partners are spread out across the globe in the countries of USA, UK and in Romania. The prominent names here are, the San Francisco State University, Northampton University and the UBB in Cluj. In addition, there are the research- based M. Phil and doctoral programmes too.

Research is a key ingredient at the Ambedkar University Delhi. To facilitate the same, there are Centres of Excellence. One of them is the AUD Centre of Incubation, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (ACIIE). It helps develop the budding entrepreneurs among the students for the institute. Experienced trainers and entrepreneurs are invited to campus to deliver guest lectures and interact with those who have such business models. There is also a Centre for Early Childhood Education and Development (CECED). Another is the Centre for Psychotherapy and Clinical Research (CPCR). The others are for the areas of- Community Knowledge, Development Practice, Social Science Research Methods, English Language Education and for Urban Ecology & Sustainability. Certificate courses are also conducted by several of these centres.

The main campus occupies an area worth sixteen acres of land. There are hostel facilities for girls in it. Boys may take up PG facilities just outside. There is a sports field where cricket and football may be played. Facilities are also there for indoor games. A large auditorium is there to facilitate major events, at both intra and inter college level. The campus is Wi- Fi enabled. Science laboratories have the latest of equipment. A health centre is also there to cater to medical emergencies. Hygienic food is prepared at the college cafeteria. All the campuses are well connected by public transport, including the renowned Delhi Metro. Banking with ATM facilities and convenience stores are located near the campuses. Besides the physical books on display, it also provides digital access to en number of international academic journals for research and academic purposes. All this and more has helped propel the AUD up the university rankings. Within this category, the NIRF (National Institutional Rankings Framework) has placed the Ambedkar University Delhi at 97th rank.
