About College

During the Eleventh Five- Year Plan, there was a proposal put forward for the created of several more central universities, to tackle the shortage of quality higher education. It would also lessen the financial burden which was being created thanks to the burgeoning of private education. The proposal was then accepted and the decision was taken for the creation of twelve more such central universities, all in different states. These new central universities would come up in the states of – Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Odisha, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Punjab and Rajasthan. In addition, three more existing universities in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand were to be upgraded to central university status. Admissions to all these universities is via the Central University Common Entrance Test (CUCET). Special provisions here are also made for the admission of foreign students.

The Central University of Haryana is located in the district of Mahendragarh. It was created in 2009, and occupies 500 acres of land. It has jurisdiction over all of Haryana. The university has received accreditation from NAAC (National Assessments and Accreditation Council). As per this, the university has curated an IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell) to ensure that standards are maintained post – accreditation. Scholarship slabs are also available at different levels, depending on requirements and academic merit.

There are a total of eleven schools and thirty departments. The schools are for – Chemical Sciences, Education, Engineering & Technology, Computer Science & Informatics, Arts & Humanities & Social Sciences, Earth & Environment & Space Studies, Journalism & Mass Communication, Physical & Mathematical Sciences, Language- Linguistics- Culture & Heritage, Law- Governance- Public Policy & Management and Interdisciplinary & Applied Life Sciences. In addition, there is also the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Kaushal Centre for skill- development among vocational workers. There are multiple disciplines being trained for under each of the schools. The School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences for example offers courses in – Economics, Education, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology and History & Archaeology.

Research is a key component for the university. Each department is measured against the research output published. A lot of this has led to brilliant innovations stemming from this university’s research output. A specific Centre for Innovation Skills and Entrepreneurship Development (CISED) is in place to tap in to all the research worked on. Some of the recent developments include- air car, innovative broom maker, bird feeder from plastic waste bottles, natural floor cleaner, decorative flower pots made from waste plastic bottles and power generation model, besides a few others. A special chair has been created here in the name of Swami Dayanand Saraswati for promotion of his ideas of peace and societal development. The university is also connected to the GIAN (Global Initiative of Academic Networks) which offers a method for the academicians to keep updating their academic portfolios consistently.

The campus of this central university, as is the trend elsewhere too is very well- equipped with facilities. The hostel facilities are more than adequate. There are separate facilities for both boys and girls. Some residential facilities are also there for the staff and faculty. The students staying at the hostel are free to use the mess which is functional year- round. Within the hostels, there are reading rooms as well as gymnasiums. A bank with ATM facility and a postal office are not far off from the hostel complex. The campus is fully Wi- Fi enabled. Sports facilities too are very well -endowed. There are facilities for football, cricket, badminton, volleyball, kabaddi, kho- kho and athletics, plus some more. A sports quiz is also held periodically. Health care services are also available on – campus. This can deal with emergencies and more.

One of the key factors which create a sense of togetherness in any university is the presence of student clubs and cells. While the cells take care of essential requirements, the clubs provide much needed entertainment and exposure to newer aspects. The clubs are named as – Alumni, Book Reading, Literary and Movie. Cells take care of essential activities such as campus placements, equal opportunities, student reservations and women empowerment. Legal aid is also provided in case of any such requirement arising. A local chapter of the Youth Red Cross is also present here. Each club or cell falls under the aegis of some academic department. Usually some faculty member or non – teaching staff is assigned duties as coordinator of each.

All this has led to handsome rankings across the platforms. Hello !
Central University haryana for faculty is a big no.
It doesn't have a good rating.
Doesn't help build up future. faculties are not supportive talented or friendly. There is a high rate of diplomacy. Placement condition is too bad.
Not many good companies visit the campus.
Overall the college doesn't have good review.
Hope this helps

Is central university of haryana is better than vardhaman college of engineering?

Anuj Pawar Student Expert 13th Jul, 2019

Hi there

Vardhaman College of Engineering, Shamshabad, Hyderabad is a better option.

Vardhaman college is known for its placements. I think it is the top college in EAMCET wise placements. In CSE branch, maximum 70% of students get placed, and other branches also get a good chance. The highest package offered may be a sum of 18 lacs per annum.

You cannot find an infrastructure as good as in Vardhaman. No college can compete with Vardhaman in infrastructure. There are plenty of classrooms and labs, an indoor stadium and auditorium, outdoor auditorium, one big cricket stadium, football ground, basketball court, etc. Hostel rooms are good.

The faculty and all the courses are perfect. They use projectors and different methods to teach the students. They get industry exposure when it is required.

Hope this helps. Good luck!
