72 MonthsDoctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) programe in Law shall be for a minimum duration of three years, including course work, and a maximum of six years. Extension beyond the above limits will be governed by the relevant clauses as stipulated in the Statute/Ordinance of the individual Institution concerned, Dr Rajendra Prasad National Law University, Prayagraj.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligibility will be based on and in conformity with University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedures for the Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2022 and No. F. 4-1 (UGC-NET Review Committee)/2024 (NET)/140648 dated 28th March 2024.
- Candidates who have completed: a Master’s degree in Law or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree in Law by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting, or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.
- A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) of Uttar Pradesh and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Government of Uttar Pradesh from time to time.
Admission Details
- Candidates, who have qualified NET/JRF or qualified for admission to Ph.D. based on the UGC NET examination are eligible for the Ph.D. Admission as per the UGC Guidelines.
- Those who are employed anywhere will submit No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their respective employer clearly mentioning that the Applicant/candidate will be granted/allowed leave for Ph.D. Course Work. Without such certificate, the application shall be rejected, and the fee shall not be refunded. Further if any candidate is found that the forged certificate has been submitted at any period before or after admission, his/her admission shall be cancelled at any time and penalised as well. The Candidates are advised not to call and embarrass on this issue before or after the admission process. The Ph.D. Course work is full-time program.
