Gujarat Ayurved University (GAU) was established by Gujarat State Government in 1965. This is a pioneer statutory University in the field of Ayurveda, which imparts teaching, training and research in various specialities of Ayurveda. The University offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Ayurveda and also conducts a high level of clinical and experimental research in the field. Recently, Institute for Postgraduate Teaching & Research in Ayurveda (IPGT & RA) have been recognised by the World Health Organization (WHO) and designated the institute as a Collaborative Centre for Traditional Medicines (Ayurveda). IPGT & RA is the only Ayurvedic centre throughout the world out of 22 for traditional systems, which is designated as a collaborative centre for Ayurveda.
GAU has a hospital which has the facility for specialized Ayurvedic treatment like Panchakarma, and Ksharasutra. It has more than 300 bedded indoor facility hospitals for the treatment of patients, research and clinical training of the students.

Clubs and committee:
- Internal Complaints Committee (ICC): ICC committee of GAU constituted every year in order to cater to problems of students. Students can bring various issues. The committee also provides a feedback system in place which provides a channel to students for reporting their grievance or giving any suggestion.
- Women's Grievance Redressal Cell: This cell of GAU is committed to the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women and takes active steps towards gender sensitisation and elimination of sexual harassment.
- Internal Quality Assurance Cell: The aim of IQAC is to plan, guide, and monitor Quality Assurance and Quality Enhancement activities of the Institution.
- Anti Ragging Committee: Anti-Ragging Committee of GAU ensures there is no ragging happening on the campus and takes strict action against those who are found guilty.
- Entrepreneurial Cell: This cell of GAU promotes entrepreneurship among students and offers various information with reference to starting a business to budding student entrepreneurs. The cell regularly organizes camps, seminars, workshops, industrial visits and other developmental programmes.
- Alumni Association: This association of GAU is dedicated to advancing innovation and technological excellence for the benefit of humanity.
- NSS: NSS wings of GAU conduct a variety of activities, such as orphanage visits, awareness programs and health camps. In addition, the NSS holds annual camps in a rural location, where students assist the residents in the development of their village.
- NCC: NCC Cadet Crop of the GAU fortifies character, command and discipline among the students. It provides framing for a career in the forces. NCC wing organises and trains youth and provides leadership in all walks of life including the armed and navy forces. It also creates a suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up a career in the armed forces.

Gujarat Ayurved University (GAU) offers undergraduate, postgraduate, PhD, and degree and diploma level courses in Ayurveda and also conducts a high level of clinical and experimental research in the field. GAU offers courses in Ayurvedic Pharmaceutical Sciences, Ayurvedic Medicinal Plant Sciences and Yoga and Naturopathy. The University offers B.Pharm (Ayurveda), BAMS, D.Pham (Ayurveda), MD/MS (Ayurveda), M.Sc in Medicinal Plants, M.Phil (Ayurveda) and PhD. GAU is offering admission to foreign students, and at present students from various countries of Asia, Africa, Europe, and Latin America are attending the short term and long term courses and clinical training in different departments of the University.
For GAU admission, eligible candidates need to submit their application through the University website and follow the rules and regulations mentioned in the notifications. Candidates have to appear for the entrance exam of the concerned department. Based on the entrance test score or qualifying marks, each department prepares the merit list. As per the merit list candidates have to proceed for the further admission process. It is up to the departments of the University, whether they conduct the entrance exam or give admission based on the qualifying criteria.
In case the concerned department is conducting the entrance exam then, aspirants of that particular course will have to appear for the entrance examination and obtain a valid score.
Each department will prepare the merit list based on the entrance test score or qualifying marks.
And, as per the merit lists, candidates have to visit the university’s concerned department and complete the admission process.
Once the admission process is completed, candidates will receive the ID Card.
Gujarat Ayurved University (GAU) offers various facilities to its students. This includes a library, hostel, conference room and auditorium. The college also has the facility of sports, reading room and yoga room.
Library: GAU library has the latest volumes, in the field of Ayurveda, and the library also has the membership for e-resources and has a subscription to national and international peer-reviewed e-journals.
Medical Facilities: The GAU campus has a medical facility. Medical doctors and other necessary first aid and emergency medicines are available for the staff and students and the institute also has links with well-equipped hospitals to deal with any severe emergency cases.
Sports: GAU has indoor and outdoor sports facilities. Indoor games like carrom, table tennis, chess are available on the campus. The University has a well-furnished football field and cricket fields.
Transport: The GAU provides bus services to reduce the transport problems of students and staff of this institution. These services are very much helpful to the students and staff for their journey to and from the college and various industrial visits in connection with the curriculum.
