Indian Institute of Information Technology Surat was established in the year 2017. It is a young institution which aims at catering the needs of the Information Technology Industry. It serves as one of the 20 IIITs in the country of national importance. The Indian Institute of Information Technology Surat is set up by the Government of India with the method of Private-Public-Partnership (PPP). The campus of Indian Institute of Information Technology Surat is a temporary one which is operated by Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology. The Institution was developed with an ambition to cater the academic needs of imparting quality knowledge to students enrolled in the graduation programme. It provides an in-depth learning to produce talent to further serve in the IT industry of a rapidly developing country India. 

Indian Institute of Information Technology Surat offers admission to B.Tech. courses in two disciplines. It includes Computer Science and Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering. 

Location

IIIT Surat presently has its temporary campus at SVNIT that is located in Ichhanath, Surat-395007 in Gujarat. It is located at a distance of 8.5 and 9 km from the Surat International Airport and Surat Railway Junction respectively. One can easily take local public transport from there to reach the location.

Awards

IIIT Surat was approved by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) along with nineteen other IIITs to be opened in India.

Recognition

The institute is recognized by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). IIIT Surat has received approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and it started with its first academic session from July 2017.

Notable Alumni

Since the institute began its academic year in 2017, and its first batch will graduate in 2020. So, there are no notable alumni as of now. The institute is expected to flourish and be one of the most successful engineering colleges of India in the coming years.

Clubs, Committees and Societies

Developer Student Clubs- The group has been created wherein students can explore a wide range of projects and have in-depth discussions related to it. Students of various institutes also participate in the projects.

Facilities

IIIT Surat does not have its personal campus yet. It functions at the campus of Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology on a temporary basis. The Government of Gujarat has sanctioned an area of 50 acres for the construction of the permanent campus of IIIT Surat. The construction will be completed in a few years’ time, and after that, IIIT Surat will shift there permanently. The infrastructure will include hostels for boys and girls with well-equipped canteens, playgrounds, and common rooms. The laboratories will be updated with the latest equipment and experiments. Facilities of IIIT Surat are also very good such as the library, guesthouse, gym, computer lab, sports complex, health care, general store, transportation that are provided by SVNIT.

Courses offered and Fee Structure

IIITS offers two undergraduate technical courses, B. Tech in two disciplines, namely:

·       Computer Science and Engineering (CSE)

·       Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE)

Admission

Indian Institute of Information Technology, Surat offers 4 years B. Tech course with 2 specializations which are Computer Science and Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering. For taking admission in B. Tech course candidate must clear JEE Mains Exam. The candidate shall offer college on the bases of All India Rank in JEE Mains. The admission process of IIIT Surat is given below:

Placements

IIIT Surat was established quite recently in the year of 2017, and the first batch has not completed its 4-year course yet. The placement cell of the institute is trying hard to prepare the students for the upcoming placements in the year 2021. Thus IIIT Surat placements will have its first performance data only after the 2021 recruitments. The institute is preparing itself well for the upcoming recruitments.

The academic structure of IIIT Surat was built to deal with the obstacles faced by the Indian Information Technology Industry and the growth of the domestic IT market. The IIIT Surat faculty is considered to be highly qualified, with most professors holding a PhD in their respective field of study. Since the institute is mentored by a National Institute of Technology, students can expect teaching standards similar to that of NITs. This all might help during the placements as the college provides for all-round development of students, specially in the field of technology.
