Swami Vivekanand Subharti University (SVSU) is a private university established under the Swami Vivekanand Subharti Vishwavidyalaya, Uttar Pradesh Adhiniyam, 2008 (U.P. Act No.29 of 2008) in 2008. The varsity is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC). NAAC has accredited the university with an ‘A’ grade. SVSU Meerut campus covers an area of 250 acres and has 707 faculty members. The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes. 

The varsity course list consists of 1 UG, 2 PG, 2 M.Phil. and 2 Ph.D courses. The seven courses offered by the university are B.Lib.I.Sc., M.A. Buddhist Studies, M.Lib.I.Sc., M.Phil. Buddhist Studies, M.Phil. Library and Information Science, Ph.D Buddhist Studies and Ph.D Library and Information Science. Swami Vivekanand Subharti University offers admission on entrance test and merit basis. The university conducts the SNET for admission in its various courses. Only candidates who meet the eligibility criteria determined by the university can apply for admission to the university.

The campus of the university has all the facilities and infrastructure required for students. The varsity has around 16 hostels - 8 for girls students and 8 for boys students. A well-stocked library with around 42 thousand books and hundreds of journals is also available. SVSU Meerut facilities also include an auditorium with a seating capacity of 3000 people, a dental hospital and a general hostel, 9 canteens and eateries that offer multi-cuisine foods. The varsity has two gyms, one for boys and one for girls.

Swami Vivekanand Subharti University has adequate sports facilities and infrastructure as well. To be eligible for admission in the courses provided by the varsity, candidates must meet the eligibility criteria set by the university. The university conducts Subharti National Eligibility Test Test (SNET) for admission. SNET score is taken into consideration for admission in all the programmes offered by the university. However, SVSU Meerut admission to B.Lib.I.Sc. and M.Lib.I.Sc. courses are also given on the merit of the last qualifying examination. The university offers various university level and state level scholarships to its students. As per the scholarship scheme of the university, only students who meet the eligibility criteria prescribed by the university can avail Swami Vivekanand Subharti University scholarships. The university provides scholarships on an academic performance basis. Students with financially weaker sections of society are also eligible for scholarships. A state-level scholarship - Uttar Pradesh Samaj Kalyan Vibhag Scholarship is also offered by the university SC/ST/OBC students of Uttar Pradesh whose family income is less than Rs. 2 LPA. 

Swami Vivekanand Subharti University has programme wise scholarships for the students. One student can avail one scholarship at a time. The scholarships are offered to students during the time of admission.
