The University of Ladakh is a state university which was founded in 2019 in Leh, Ladakh, India. As a co-educational institution this centre, which is recognised in accordance with the requirements of the UGC, provides a broad spectrum of academic programme possibilities. rug has 28 members in the faculty and offers 29 programmes at seven levels of degrees: Undergraduate, Post graduate and Doctorate. The university has its largest campus spread over several acres at Melongthang, Leh-Ladakh where FRL and the office of the Vice-Chancellor cum Secretary and other annex buildings are also situated.
Number of facilities are available to enhance the academic ambience of the University of Ladakh. As much as library has importantalion of documents and journals, it meets all the needs of the students and faculty members. There are departmental laboratory facilities for learning and conducting experiments and practicals. The university also has separate hostels for boys and girls which include mess facilities indoor sports and recreational facilities. The hall is Wi-Fi enabled with a 100 Mbps network spread all over the campus to facilitate academics and research needs. The university also provides primary health care in a medical centre with a doctor and a nurse to handle any situation that comes up.
The university also provides several courses of study to its students by providing twenty-four courses in its different fields. Such include full time post graduate courses like, MA, MA English , M.Sc, M.Sc Geology, M.Com, MCA, Doctoral programmes like Geology, Political Science, Physical Education and many more. In addition to these, the university has a B.Ed programme for anyone who wishes to be a teacher. The total intake approved differs between courses and it turns out the majority of the postgraduate courses admits 35 students per programme while the Science programmes and the MCA course is different slightly.
The University of Ladakh has not set any special admission criteria except for the following criteria which includes the marks obtained in the previous examination. For some programmes Ent. Examination / other selection process may be conducted as per the policy of the State Govt / Central Govt / UT Administration etc. The university uses the preference system and the applicants can list the preferred programmes for them. Particular dates are normally published on the website of the university before the beginning of the academic year on the admission sub-portal. This university does not have its own test and it admits students using scores from equivalent national examination for different faculties. The Bachelor of Education programme at the University of Ladakh has an approved intake of 50 seats. University of Ladakh admission is on merit, considering marks obtained in the qualifying examination for any entrance examination whatsoever or any other selection process as per the government policy.
The university offers MA programmes in Arabic, English, Sociology, Urdu, Buddhist Studies, Hindi, Economics, and Geography. Most of these programmes have an approved intake of 35 students. University of Ladakh admission is made on a merit basis according to programme/course preference.
The University of Ladakh offers M.Sc. programmes in Geology, Forensic Science, Energy Science, Zoology, Chemistry, and Botany. The approved intake for most scientific programmes is 30 students; the merit is like other postgraduate programmes.
The Master of Commerce programme has an approved intake of 35 students. University of Ladakh admission process follows the standard procedures for postgraduate admission of the university.
The Master of Computer Applications programme approves an enrollment of 25 students. University of Ladakh admission is based on merit and preference for the same programmes.
