Alva’s College of Physical Education was started in the year 2005 and is one of the well known colleges situated at Moodibidri, Karnataka. It is a co-educational college under the university system offering programmes in physical education and sports sciences. Spread across a sprawling 9-acre campus, the college offers two specialised degree programs, Bachelors in Physical Education BPEd and Masters in Physical Education MPEd. Alva’s College has 138 students erolment and has faculty of 17 members so it provide personal attention as well as quality education. It is approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and enunciates the standards of physical education to follow appropriate quality criteria in the institution.

The college has great amenities put in place in a bid to nurture the various aspects of students. The sports facilities include football court, kho-kho court, ball badminton, basketball court, volleyball court, cricket ground, handball court, throw ball court, netball court, and hockey field. Students also avail a good facility of a Gymnasium and a 400 meter synthetic playing field. The college also has access to a swimming pool through an MOU with Alva’s Education Foundation signed with the Karnataka State Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports. In regard to academics, it has over 3500 books, 7 journals and 94 encyclopedia in the college library, and on physical education and sports. The institution also attempts to have well equipped anatomy and physiology practical demonstrations with different charts, models and educational DVD.

Alva's College of Physical Education offers two full-time courses, Both B.P.Ed and M.P.Ed courses which takes 2 years each to accomplish. Admission quota of the B.P.Ed programme is a hundred whereas that of the M.P.Ed programme is forty. The intention of these programs is to ensure people with skilled professional trainers of physical education and qualitative sports coaches.

Basically, Alva’s College of Physical Education has strict admission procedures for students as it follows merit admission system. For B.P.Ed programme student got admission after clear written test followed by the fitness test interview and marks in the qualifying examination percentage also counted. The following pattern are same as mentioned above for M.P.Ed programme which include written test, fitness test & interview and the percentage of qualifying exam.
