DAV College of Education for Women, Amritsar was started in 1956 and is one of the pioneer institutions for women education in Punjab state of India. Adjacent to Beri Gate, this affiliated college is 2 acres in size and is NAAC recognized. Recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) the college offers four postgraduate courses in education and computer applications. The college at present has a total student strength of 478 and the faculty strength is 19 therefore it retains its small scale learning system.
The college has variety of Proctoria that boasts of modern infrastructure that aims at improving learning environment. Organized with up-to-date books, journals, textbooks and the latest research findings, its library possesses approximately 16000 documents. Degree wise Admission Process

M.Ed: The M.Ed program has a capacity of 50 students. The University conducts the counselling for admissions. D.El.Ed Self Financed: In D.El.Ed program 50 candidates are accepted. Candidate merit shall be determined on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination and/or an entrance examination. PGDCA Self Finance: The Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA) has an intake of 40 seats. Selection is done directly through an interview, conducted at the college. Candidates are eligible to apply typically with a bachelor's in any discipline from a recognized university.
