About Saraswati College of Teachers Training, Dausa

Saraswati College, established in 2008 in Dausa, Rajasthan, is a premier B.Ed College focusing on teacher training. Established in 2008, it is an affiliated college located at By Pass Junction, Agra Road. Duly recognised by the National Council of Teachers Education (NCTE). This campus occupies 1.16 acres and provides the corresponding programmes concerning education. As of now, the college has 199 enrolments and a faculty of 16 hence presenting an ideal student-teacher ratio. Saraswati College offers four regular courses under three courses/programmes in teacher education & elementary education.

There a number of amenities at Saraswati College to sustain the colleges academic climate. This core facility offers both in-campus and online access to textbooks, reference works, research journals, and magazines are available. The library acts as a centre for learning and innovation for the learners as well as the instructors. The college is has departmental laboratories where student are taken to develop their practical knowledge. An auditorium hsots events and seminars and a health centre with a first aid point promotes students’ health. IT infrastructure of the institute consists of a computing facility with various categories of hardware and software systems through which students get introduced to various technologies. Almost every class is fitted with instructional technology to support learning activities. There are recreational facilities to enhance on physical and organised system of exercise and games to improve physical and mental prowess, play and sporting equipment is provided to aid on the development of sporting facilities while a guest house is provided to accommodate the visiting faculty and students’ families.

In all, Saraswati College of Teachers Training has four programmes, all of which are full time programmes. Some of these include B.Ed, B.A, B.Ed, B.Sc, B.Ed and D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education). Students intake in the college is 350 total seats and it is equally divided in all the programmes offered by the college. There are 100 student’s intakes for the B.Ed and B.A.B.Ed, B.Sc.B.Ed respectively and the D.El.Ed has 50 intakes therein. Every course involves preparation for educational careers, as well as understanding of both theory and practice of education.

The admission process of this college also differs from one course to another especially for the program in Teacher Training. Schools offering the B.Ed, B.A. B.Ed, B.Sc. B.Ed programmes admit students through the Pre-Teacher Education Test (PTET) and controversy surrounding admissions is under the jurisdiction of the affiliated university. This way the selection process among the aspiring teachers becomes both standard and fair. This relief is to be offered to the applicants who cleared D.El.Ed programme to be done on the merit basis that include the marks secured in the qualifying and/ or entrance examination as per rules and regulation set by the state government/ UT administration. It is a co-educational institution, therefore, it hosts both male and female students in their colleges.

In most of its programs, admission is through entrance tests conducted for the purpose, PTET being the primary examination.

The PTET is generally set a few months before the commencement of the academic year, which is approximately in August or September. Eligibility criteria for admission vary in different programs. For B.Ed, B.A. B.Ed, and B.Sc. B.Ed. program:

  2. Appearing for PTET on its scheduled date.
  3. After the result for PTET result is announced, qualified candidates will apply for Saraswati College after filling the appropriate forms
  4. Fill the college application form, completing personal information and academic details.
  5. Submit required documents like the PTET scorecard, academic certificates, and others.
  6. Pay application fee as specified by the college.
  7. Attend counseling if called for, based on PTET ranking and criteria of the college
  8. After selection, candidates need to complete admission procedures, including the payment of required fees and verification of documents.

For D.El.Ed:

  1. Admissions are announced in notification either in the college website or notice board.
  2. Purchase the application form for D.El.Ed program and fill it.
  3. Submit the completed D.El.Ed application form along with required documents including certificates and mark sheets for the qualifying examination.
  4. Pay application fee as specified to the college.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.Ed: Admission to the B.Ed program at Saraswati College is conducted through the Pre-Teacher Education Test (PTET) conducted by the affiliated university. It has been given approved intake of 100 students. Candidates must clear the PTET and satisfy university eligibility criteria to be considered for admission.

B.Sc.-B.Ed.: This integrated program is also following the PTET-based admission process. It has an approved intake of 100 students. Candidates have to be very competent in natural sciences and appear for the PTET and only after this would they be eligible for admission.

BA-B.Ed: Just like in the B.Sc-B.Ed, admissions to the BA-B.Ed program will be based on the scores obtained in the PTET. The approved intake is 100 students. Candidates with arts would be preferred for admission to this integrated program.

D.El.Ed.(Diploma in Elementary Education): D.El.Ed admission, unlike other programs, operates entirely on merit. The selection is mainly based on the marks scored in the examination of qualification, whether through a state or entrance examination. These should further conform to the policy as decreed by the state government or union territory administration. This program has been approved for 50 students.
