Eligibility Criteria for Undergraduate Yoga Courses

  1. Successful completion of class 12th from a recognized board with any stream with minimum aggregate marks of 40-50%.

  2. Some universities have their entrance examination which candidates have to qualify and reach the minimum cut off released before the commencement of the admission procedure.

  3. Most universities do not conduct entrance examinations for admission to do a bachelor's degree in Yoga And hence the admission to candidates is given solely on a merit basis. 

Eligibility Criteria for Postgraduate Yoga Courses

  1. Must have a bachelor's degree in the required line from a recognized institution with atleast 50% aggregate marks. 

  2. State-level and national level entrance exams are annually held for aspiring candidates.

  3. Some private universities also make it mandatory for the candidate to appear for a personal interview after the clearance of the entrance examination. 

Scope of Yoga in India and Abroad

The scope of pursuing a career in yoga is increasing day by day because a large number of people are realizing the health benefits of yoga. People have started to accept it as a part of their routine to enable themselves in detaching from the whims and fancies of monotonous life and spare some time to connect with themselves.

The eligibility criteria for UGC NET in yoga is as follows:

  • At least 55% marks should be secured by candidates belonging to the General category in their Master Degree or equivalent Examination from a university recognized by UGC.
  • Reserved categories: Candidates belonging to the OBC/SC/ST/PwD categories should have completed their Master’s degree or equivalent program with at least 50% of marks to be eligible for UGC NET.
  • Age of the candidate must not be above 28 years, which means your birth year should be 1993 or after that.

If you have completed your masters in 2006, then you do not match the age criteria. I am sorry to inform you but you are not eligible for UGC NET in yoga.

The eligibility criteria for NET in Yoga is as follows:

  • 55% aggregate in post graduation if you are from general category.
  • 50% in post graduation if SC/ST/OBC/PWD
  • Age criteria: 31 years (JRF) ; no age limit for assistant professor if you are from general category
  • 36 years (JRF) ; no age limit for assistant professor if you are from SC/ST/OBC/PWD.
