Both branch are good in the Institute, as Mechanical is the oldest branch and CSE  is the most preferred branch now a days. NITs faculty are good and lab/ workshop facility is also good. Which field you want to go for matters. Placement is easy in CSE than in Mechanical. First decide which field you want to pursue for future.
