If you're considering a CSE branch at NIT Silchar, know that it's generally considered a good choice, especially if you prioritize placements. CSE consistently boasts high placement rates, often close to 100%, with top companies like Amazon, Microsoft, and Goldman Sachs recruiting, and impressive salary packages.
You'll also find a strong coding culture, supportive seniors, and a picturesque, green campus with numerous clubs and activities beyond academics. However, be mindful that Silchar is a remote location with potential connectivity issues, and some NIT SILCHAR REVIEWS suggest that while the faculty are generally supportive, the curriculum might be outdated in some aspects.
Hostel facilities and mess food is also good here While the overall experience is positive, these factors are important to consider before making your final decision.
Hello Aspirant
Unfortunately It is too difficult to get admission in core branch with 79.75 percentile in JEE main.
However you are in OBC-NCL.
If you're from Assam (HS): You might get Mechanical or Civil through CSAB special rounds, but not core branches.
Great job on scoring 96.556 percentile in JEE Mains 2025
Expected AIR
: ~37,700
You have good chances for:
ECE, EE, Mechanical, Civil (under Home State quota)
CSE might be difficult in General category, but easier if you're OBC/SC/ST

Hello
With an NTA score of 49.7446 in JEE Main and belonging to the ST category, your chances of securing admission to NIT Silchar depend on the specific branch and seat availability.
Admission cutoffs vary annually based on factors like the number of applicants, exam difficulty and seat availability. For the most accurate information, it's advisable to refer to the official JoSAA website or NIT Silchar's official admissions page.
Hope this gives you the clarity you need.
Both NIT Patna and NIT Silchar are reputed for Civil Engineering, but the better choice depends on various factors. NIT Patna has an advantage in location, with better industry exposure and internship opportunities due to its proximity to major construction hubs. It also has strong faculty and research opportunities. NIT Silchar, however, boasts a larger, greener campus and strong placement records, especially in government and PSU sectors. If you prefer better connectivity and internships, NIT Patna is ideal. For a peaceful campus with solid academics, NIT Silchar is a great option. Both offer good career prospects in civil engineering.
Hi
hope you doing well
Whilw having a score of 81.12% in Jee mains, and belonging to the S C category, you have a chance of getting admission into NIT Silchar under the SC quota. The cutoffs for SC candidates are generally lower than those for the General category.
However, admission to specific branches like CSE or ECE might still be challenging, as these branches have higher cutoffs. You are more likely to secure a seat in branches like Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering.
The exact cutoffs vary year by year, but based on previous trends, your percentile puts you in contention for certain branches.

I hope, your doubt relating to MBA placements at NIT Silchar has been resolved. All the Best!
If you score 81.12 percentile in JEE Mains, then your category rank would be around 20,00 in the SC category. It's too tough to get into NIT Silchar with this rank. Therefore, I recommend not solely depending on JOSAA counseling with this rank. You also need to participate in CSAB rounds, which will increase your chances of getting into any NITs or other good government engineering colleges with this rank.

College infrastructure is good not excellent as it is a very old college( built in 1960's) so not as good as private colleges but it is ok campus is very big and there is no issue in hostels or classes they are comfortable enough. They provide all the basic facilities to students.Hostels are cleaned almost everyday.Classrooms are occupied with smart boards and well maintained benches.
NIT Silchar maintains a well-maintainned campus with modern infrastructure - spacious classrooms equipped with smart boards, central library, sports facilities and descent hostels. Overall infrastructure is good which helps in excelling in academics and extra-curricular activities.
There is no doubt that NIT Silchar has one of the most beautiful campus in country. For a nature lover like me ,it is sure that you are going to have a good time.NIT Silchar is one of the oldest NITS and is regarded as one of the best NIT . NIT Silchar has the largest Digital library in India .
