The academic experience in this college is very good. Teachers are knowledgeable, supportive and always ready to help students in studies and projects. The syllabus is completed on time and regular classes are conducted properly. The college also organizes seminars, presentations and practical sessions which help students improve their knowledge and skills. The learning environment is positive and motivating.
The placement opportunities in the college are average. Some companies visit the campus for recruitment and internship opportunities, but placements depend mainly on students’ skills and performance. The placement cell provides guidance, training sessions and interview preparation support to students. Many students also choose higher studies or off-campus opportunities for better career growth.
The college provides good value for money because the fees are reasonable compared to the facilities and academic support provided. Students get access to good infrastructure, libraries, classrooms and extracurricular activities. Faculty members are helpful and the overall learning environment is satisfactory. The college also offers opportunities for skill development, making it a worthwhile experience for students.
Campus life in the college is enjoyable and engaging. The campus environment is friendly, safe and suitable for students. Various cultural programs, sports activities, seminars and events are organized regularly, which helps students develop confidence and teamwork skills. Students get opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities along with academics. The overall atmosphere of the campus is positive and memorable.
The college infrastructure facility is good, and it contains all the necessary facilities and equipment required for studying and completing the degree efficiently. It has proper laboratories, libraries, sports centres and hostels which has 24*7 Wi-Fi connection, and they are all well maintained.
I am currently pursuing my master's in business administration from NIT Silchar. The quality of teaching here is very good; the teachers are very regular and disciplined in taking their classes. The curriculum here is totally updated according to the new educational policies. I think that studying in NIT Silchar is definitely going to make me job-ready.
The quality of placement is good here as it has Training and Placement Cell which takes care each and every placement activity. Apart from MBA it has various engineering departments (like the civil, electrical, etc department) which approximates the placement percentage to 78.35% while the average package stood at Rs12.25 LPA.
The return of Investment is good here as in my department with a combined fees of around 2.5-3 lakh we get all the facilities here in the campus itself. So, with this investment with gets an average package of around 7-7.5 lakh.
The college campus is good and well maintained by institution, it organises various sports activities, fest, cultural programs which makes the life interesting at the campus. The campus is at a very good place.
It is a National Institute, and it provides all the necessary things to its students, it has a very good campus life as it constantly organises sports events, fest. DJ nights so that the students can handle the academic stress and can be productive in their studies.
Decent college infrastructure with basic ammenities , greenery surroundings a great place to be at , great hostel and campus life , all the classrooms are not diigitalised , but basic facilities are there
good curriculum and learning outcome , best for btech ofcourse but can do better for mtech . projects , live tasks seminars are hosted for exposure and practical learning overall decent place to be in
decent placements , for mtech oppurtunitites sometimes turn out to be limited and since it was covid hitting phase it dropped more . but btech people are always priviledged in terms of placements at NIT
NIT Silchar has one of the greenest and largest college campus compared to other colleges in India. The buildings are old but are good enough and also has basic facilities and equipments. The classrooms have smartboards, laboratories are well equipped and sports centres like gym are also available. Hostels provide food 4times a day and is good enough.
Academics in NIT Silchar is good. The professors are well qualified and curriculum is also well updated frequently. I am pursuing Mechanical engineering and the professors here are strict yet friendly.
Placements in our college is decent. CSE, EIE have the best placements followed by Mechanical. Last year nearly 75% mechanical students were placed in companies like HPCL, EATON etc giving salaries of 18LPA and 14LPA respectively. The average salary is nearly 8LPA and the college is very supportive.
In terms of value for money, NIT Silchar is average. For a general candidate, the tuition fee is nearly 1lakh per semester. The hostel fees are separate. College does give quality education but college fees can be reduced to some extent.
My campus life experience till now is average. I did enjoy during our technical and cultural fests. Many competitions are also organised time to time for students. Location of NIT Silchar is slightly outskirts of the town so, communication is an issue but it is safe and can handle emergencies.
College infrastructure is good not excellent as it is a very old college( built in 1960's) so not as good as private colleges but it is ok campus is very big and there is no issue in hostels or classes they are comfortable enough. They provide all the basic facilities to students.Hostels are cleaned almost everyday.Classrooms are occupied with smart boards and well maintained benches.
I am studying electronics and instrumentation engineering in this college as I am interested in electronics core. The quality of electronics professors are very good they teach everything from basic to its practical applications in labs.Unfortunately, our curriculum is old and you have to learn yourself to get job ready.
Placements has been very good with average package of college to be around 13 lpa and percentage placement of around 90%+ across all branches. The highest package in 2024 was 53 lpa offered by AWS to cse, ece, eie,ee students.
It is completely value for money as it is a government institution it's fees is very nominal and you get tuition fee wavier as per your family income. My family income is less than 1 lpa per year so I am paying just 70 thousand/year (tuition fee + hostel + mess)Yes I feel it is worth it..
Campus life is outstanding here as the campus is very big around 650 acres. It is a lush green campus with a lot of trees and ponds in the campus area. The weather of silchar is also very pleasant most of the time. Its location is completely safe. The worst thing of this college is issue of connectivity as there are no direct flights/trains to silchar from big cities and that's a issue.
If you prefer a great college life filled with a lot of memories and also want to explore extra curricular activities it is one of the great college to enter as it has almost every club for each and everyone's interest. It also has great placements so you can come here without any hesitation.
NIT Silchar maintains a well-maintainned campus with modern infrastructure - spacious classrooms equipped with smart boards, central library, sports facilities and descent hostels. Overall infrastructure is good which helps in excelling in academics and extra-curricular activities.
The professors are outstanding, with highest qualifications and expertise in their respective fields. The curriculum is a bit old but the knowledge gained is inevitable. Moreover, the activities involved with various clubs, gives a boost to the overall development of an individual.
The placements are outstandings, with almost a major part of the batch being placed. Those opting for higher studies are also admitted to some of the best universities. Our placement cell is very supportive with all the guidance provided to us for our better placement
The cost is a bit high, but for the facilities that we get it is not upto the mark.
The campus life is wonderful. The campus is very greeny, with trees all round the campus. It has various places to hang out. During the rainy and spring season, the campus looks even more mesmerising.
There is no doubt that NIT Silchar has one of the most beautiful campus in country. For a nature lover like me ,it is sure that you are going to have a good time.NIT Silchar is one of the oldest NITS and is regarded as one of the best NIT . NIT Silchar has the largest Digital library in India .
THe lectures are medicore and the professors are knowledgeable. NITS offers UG,PG and PHD. Curriculum is well maintained and provides good theory and practical classes. If you want to go for govt. service you will get enough time to prepare as academic pressure is less
Above 90% of the students got placed in reputed multinational companies like amazon, google, microsoft etc.. the average package was about 14 and highest is 80 lakh per annum. The average package of CSE is 16 LPA.
The hostel experience was nice, with timely breakfast, lunch, and dinner. However, the mobile network was very poor in the hostel room and sometimes lan did not work properly. classrooms are in pretty good condition in new gallery classroom. for civil laboratories, the equipment was not maintain properly.
Some of the professors are very good, but for other professors, you have to depend on yourself. You have learned by yourself from YouTube. The teaching quality is pretty good. Time exams were taken by the professor
For other branches except civil and mechanical placement scenario is good. Avg CTC for civil and mechanical is 6-7 lpa compared to others 12-14lpa for other branches. around 60 to 70 students got placed from civil
for each semester fee is around 1lakh.
We have proper Wi-Fi, labs are up to the mark and need improvement. Classroom are good and have proper functional A. C. We have regular labs going on. Library is quite good and books are there too. Quality of food has been improved. There are no medical facilities available in hostel you need to visit to the outer medical stores or hospital. There are not enough grounds for sports.
Teachers are helpful, but they are not qualified for their posts and their teaching is not good. One teacher takes two or three subjects, and their teaching quality is poor. They only focus on theory not on practical, and the semester exam is a little difficult.
The college provides minimum placement; only a few of them get placed, and only 10 percent of students are placed from college. The highest package is 6 lacs per annum and the lowest is 1 lakh. Top recruiting companies include Infosys, Wipro, etc., and only 5 percent of students get internships.
My college is having a very beautiful campus, it just looks very amazing. The hostel facilities when I was in the college were ok. Else the wifi is all over in the campus. Also their are labs in almost all the sems for electrical branch students.
At my time, their were many great teachers because of whom we were getting those high packages no doubt it just feels very easy and understandable when they teach. At our time some changes were made in the course subjects that were very helpful.
Off course NIT silchar is performing very well in the on campus placements which in my opinion will increase in the future The average package is 11 lpa. The median package was also increasing and students are grabbing placements in their dream companies.
Hello Dear Student,
With 93.61 percentile in JEE Main , getting CSE or ECE at National Institute of Technology Silchar is difficult with an OBC-NCL rank around 32k.
However, you still have good chances for branches like:
especially in later JoSAA

Admission to the NIT is based on the rank rather than the percentile, Last year NIT Silchar cutoff rank for the Mechanical engineering under home state quota in ST Category (male) was 2804 via JSAA on the other hand 80730 via CSAB. So you should wait for the final rank
