Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) is a government-aided institute and deemed university for the study and research of space science. It is the first university in Asia to be solely dedicated to the study and research of Outer space.

On the other hand, Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER), are a group of premier science education and research institutes in India. In IISER, you will find courses on Basic Sciences. IISERs are greatly proclaimed to be the IITs of Basics Sciences.
