Dr B. R. Ambedkar School of Economics University Bengaluru, formerly known as Bengaluru Dr B. R. Ambedkar School of Economics (BASE) University was established in 2017. With the aim of establishing an institute of excellence in the field of Economics and allied disciplines, the Government of Karnataka constituted a committee under the Chairmanship of Shri. S. V. Ranganath, Vice Chairman, KSHEC and former Chief Secretary to the Government of Karnataka.

BASE University Bengaluru primarily focuses on Economics, offering various programmes at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels. Courses that are offered at BASE University include BSc, BSc MSc and MSc programmes. Admissions into UG and PG programmes are given based on the merit of the CUET-UG and CUET PG scores and academic merit.
