Karnataka State Akkamahadevi Women’s University was set up in 2003 and is a state university situated in Vijayapura of Karnataka. It is a women’s university with comprehensive academic programmes in undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The institution occupies a campus area of 281 acres, total enrolment in the institution is 1607 and total faculty strength is 63. It is also accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and recognised by University Grants Commission (UGC). IUM offers 223 courses in 22 programmes and ranges in Arts, Science, Commerce & Education streams.
The facilities available at Karnataka State Akkamahadevi Women’s University adequately serves the needs of the academia. The centralised library building, constructed in a year ago, measuring ten thousand two hundred and ninety-eight point sixty-two sq mtr is well equipped with proper collection of books, periodicals and E-resources. It operates during the working day hours between 9:00 AM to 7 PM and for the holidays between 10 AM to 5 PM. The library operates on settings from the KOHA software package and offers access to e-journals as well as Internet services.
