MS Wildlife Studies at KVASU Wayanad Offline Course

The concern for the conservation of wildlife in situ and in captivity has increased globally over the years. With this has increased the demand for trained personnel with sufficient practical exposure to managing real-life situations involving free-ranging and captive wildlife. A post-graduate course for bioscience graduates is the requirement of the day which can be pivotal in acting as a turning point for those who would like to turn from the mainstream towards the fast-growing field of wildlife conservation and management. 

College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Pookode, is located in Wayanad District, Kerala, which consists of a unique geographical region naturally blessed with varieties of wild flora and fauna. A major part of the district consists of reserved forest areas and parts of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, identified by the UNESCO as a biodiversity hotspot of international importance. The location of the well-equipped institute in this forest-rich district of Kerala makes it the ideal place for students who have a passion for wildlife to seek specialized training in the field. The MS (Wildlife Studies) programme is envisaged to provide a wildlife specialization to bioscience graduates from a variety of backgrounds keen to commit their lives to a career in the wildlife sector. This novel programme of the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University provides a common platform for scientists and experts from various fields related with wildlife and animal sciences as well as students seeking advanced training in wildlife studies to work together for the benefit of wildlife. The programme is presently offered by KVASU in technical collaboration with scientists of the Kerala Forest Research Institute, Peechi.
