Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, also known as SSUHS Guwahati was established in 2009. The institute is a government university in Assam. SSUHS Guwahati offers around 8 full-time courses at the doctoral level in the Medical and Allied Sciences stream. The university offers 6 years full-time SSUHS Guwahati courses, including Ph.D Homoeopathy, Ph.D Ayurveda, Ph.D Nursing, Ph.D Pharmacy, Ph.D Medical Biotechnology, Ph.D Modern Medicine, Ph.D Dental Sciences, Ph.D Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. 

The SSUHS Guwahati Ph.D admission is based on the marks obtained by candidates in the written entrance examination conducted by Srimanta Sankaradeva University, followed by a personal interview. Candidates who have cleared the UGC (JRF) Examination/UGC-NET/SET/SLET or have passed the M.Phil degree are exempted from the entrance test.
