Vardhman Mahaveer Open University (VMOU) Kota was established in the year 1987 by the Act of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly. Previously, the university was known as Kota Open University and was renamed Vardhman Mahaveer Open University through a Gazette notification by the Government of Rajasthan on 21st September 2002.
