If the Admission Committee finds a candidate suitable for pursuing Ph.D.General Programme, the candidate will be allowed to provisionally ‘register’ on payment of Rs.
15,000/- in case of full time/Part Time Ph. D. / D.Phil. General student as admission fee. In addition they shall pay the following fees:
Facilities Fee - Rs. 10,000/- (Rupees Ten thousand only) Per Annum
Library Fee - Rs. 7,000/- (Rupees Seven thousand only) Per Annum
Library Deposit - Rs. 5,000/- (Rupees Five thousand only) Refundable
Retention fee for every 6 months - Rs. 8,000/- (Rupees Eight thousand only) twice in a year
Course Work Fee (One Time) – Rs. 10000/- (Rupees Ten thousand only) – Details
regarding content and duration of Course Work will be decided by the Doctoral Research Committee (D.R.C.).
Doctor of Philosophy in Law doctorate shall be for a minimum duration of three years, including course work and a maximum of six years. Extension beyond the above limits will be governed by the relevant clauses as stipulated in the Statute/Ordinance of the individual Institution concerned.
Candidates qualified in UGC NET and JRF also should qualify in entrance test for enrolment in Ph.D. Programme
Candidates who passed (a)Master Degree from a recognized University in any discipline with a minimum of 55% marks or 50% marks in case of reserved candidates in the aggregate and (b)passed by securing a minimum of 50% marks in the Aggregate in the Ph. D. entrance test conducted by the University shall be eligible for Enrolment in the Ph.D. Programme. Mere appearance at Entrance does not guarantee admission.
An applicant seeking admission to full/part time Ph.D. Degree Programme shall have:
(i) A Master’s Degree in Law from any recognised University having scored a minimum of 55% marks in the aggregate.
(ii) With a view to encourage interdisciplinary studies and research with strong legal component, the CNLU encourages candidates from other disciplines also to register for
Ph.D. Full Time/Part Time Programme. Such candidates must have :
a. A Master’s Degree or equivalent degree or diploma in any subject relevant to the field of research with a Bachelor’s Degree in law;
b. A Master’s Degree or equivalent degree or diploma in any subject relevant to the research with established research credentials by way of publications;
c. A Master’s Degree or equivalent degree or diploma in any subject relevant to the research with long-term in-depth practical experience in the area to be researched;
d. M. Phil degree or equivalent degree or diploma in the relevant subject with excellent academic background.
