The university was established in 1984 through the Goa University Act and started functioning from 1985. There are 61 colleges affiliated to Goa University. The university has 5 schools on its campus. The campus size of the university is spread over an area of 402 acres of land. Scholarships are provided by the university with the aim of helping the financially constrained students in pursuing their dream career.
