Established in 2008, the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Bhopal (IISER Bhopal) is an autonomous institute that has gained the status of ‘Institute of National Importance. IISER Bhopal was established under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The foundation stone of IISER Bhopal was laid down by Late Shri Arjun Singh on October 8, 2008. The total number of departments in the institute is 10, some of which are the Department of Chemical Engineering, Department of Data Science and Engineering, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science etc. IISER Bhopal has three centres of excellence. The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research was incorporated as ‘Institute of National Importance’ under the umbrella of the NIT (Amendment) Act, 2012 (NIT Act 2007). The Act was further amended in 2014, entitled the NITSER ACT 2014. The campus area of IISER Bhopal is spread over 200 acres of land offering various infrastructural facilities to the students. Students at IISER Bhopal are offered all the basic facilities for a smooth learning process. Classrooms are modern and large to incorporate a good amount of students have a comfortable session. Sports facilities are good and almost every sport has got its place on the campus. WiFi can be found at every corner of the campus and internet bandwidth is also excellent.
It's large and environment friendly. You can also watch birds here. There are separate hostels for girls and boys. And also the classrooms are big and contain white boards. There is a ccd in the campus.

Placements at IISER Bhopal is very good. Mainly candidates after BS-MS degree go for higher studies in the world abroad universities like MIT Cambridge, Harvard, Stanford and Princeton etc. Some of the students take admission in Top IITS for PhD and many students placed in job sectors.
