There's no point in regretting over what is already passed, it's completely ok if you couldn't utilise your time efficiently and couldn't cover your first PUC syllabus or class 11th syllabus , now just stop thinking about it and move on you can you still make it and cover

If you are mentally prepared to study for 2 years continuously and more importantly consistently, clearing all your doubts and solving all varieties of questions that can be asked then there is no problem in studying on your own for Mains. Coaching is required but not necessary to score good
