SGGSWU offers a variety of courses at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level in the field of Basic And Applied Sciences, Medical Sciences, Commerce And Management, Social Sciences, Performing Arts, Languages, Education And Information Science, Engineering And Technology and Law. Admission to all the UG and PG courses will be based on the merit of the qualifying examination that is 10+2 for undergraduate courses and graduation in case of postgraduate programmes. As per the SGGSWU admission process, 25% of the total seats in B.Tech, M.Tech and MBA will be based on the scores of JEE Main, GATE and CMAT. Bhai Nand Lal Library, The University Library is named after a great scholar of Persian, Bhai Nand Lal ji who had the privilege of one of the fifty-two poets of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. University Library is on a rapid & consistent path of expansion and development since its inception, catering to the learning & research requirements of faculty and students. Library Automation:University Library has fully equipped with latest technology for all the operations of library. The library is providing Online Public Access Catalogue and modern reprographic facilities to its users. To enhance the search facilities on OPAC, two new touch screens have been installed in the library. Library Collection: During the current year, Bhai Nand Lal Library has undergone face-lifting changes and its collection has grown to 19240 books. Latest books are added regularly every year.The University Library initiated a process of acquiring private collections of willing individuals and institutions with an intention of strengthening its collection with rare/old books and classics. It has received a very rare and old book collection relating to Sikh Religion and History, from SGPC Head Office, Chandigarh. Periodical Section: CurrentlyUniversity Library is subscribing more than 50 research journals along with large number of electronic journals in various disciplines throughUGC – INFONET Digital Library Consortium and directly from publishers. Library is also subscribing 18 newspapers and more than 30magazines. During the last session, Library has been fully automated and entire collection was put on Web OPAC. It has fully air conditioned reading hall equipped with new furniture. Religious Studies Centre has been created in the Library for research. A Cyber Cafe containing 20 computers with Internet facility is also setup in the Library for the users. SPSS Software Package is also installed on 10 systems for research purpose. A new look has been given to the Library which was fully appreciated by the UGC Team. The University Library has a rich collection of reference material which contains multi volume books, dictionaries and encyclopedias of various subjects. Library Membership: The students, teachers and staff are entitled for membership in the University Library. A bar-coded membership card for each member is generated through the automated system with the help of multitasking integrated library management software.
With a view to develop over all personality of the students, the University lays great emphasis on sports. The University is committed to the cause of education as well as sports. The University aims to promote sports culture among the youth and to provide world-class facilities to sports person. The University has sports stadium and well equipped Gym. The University students have won laurels in various tournaments The University have well equipped Athletics track, Basketball court, Volleyball court, Hockey, Football, Cricket ground in the university campus. The well-equipped gym is also made for the students. Well-equipped Physiotherapy lab is established for rehabilitation of players and students.
To reduce the dependence of students and staff on public transport, the University owns a fleet of comfortable and well maintained buses that pick and drop students and faculty members from Chandigarh, Mohali, Patiala, Sirhind, Mandi Gobindgarh and Khanna.
Students have access to free medical attention. A doctor is available on the campus to ensure the timely treatment. Further, a Homeopathic doctor is also avialbale at the campus.
University has a spacious and hygienic canteen that caters to the taste of all students. The canteen is provided with good furniture and electrical automatic cooking and storing facilities. The canteen provides hot lunch, snacks and beverages both to the students and staff at reasonable rates. It is well maintained with efficient service and a take away counter. The canteen remains open on all working days.
