M.Tech (Urban Development and Management)The complexities of managing sustainable development of urban areas in developing countries and globally require inter-disciplinary approach and expertise. While, on the one hand, there is a severe shortage of professionals with techno-managerial skills required for these tasks, on the other hand, the requirement for the same is increasing rapidly. The opportunities being created for careers in the area arise from the increased focus on sustainable urban development in government policies and programmes, the thrust on implementing various reforms in urban sector, the massive public and private sector investment being made in urban infrastructure development, real estate sector, township development and SEZs, and the need for building capacity of institutions engaged in urban governance, development and management. The uniqueness of this programme is in promoting learning through research based teaching and from engagement of practitioners.The M. Tech. Programme is designed to build a pool of competent professionals having required technical skills, managerial capabilities and understanding of social, economic, environmental and legal issues associated with urban development, infrastructure and real estate sector.
