What is Library and Information Science
Library and Information science is an interdisciplinary science derived from various fields of mathematics, logic, linguistics, computer technology, arts, research, library science, management, and other fields related to the subject. Eligibility Criteria (UG & PG) of Library and Information Science
The eligibility criteria differ from university to university from minimum marks requirements to entrance exams as per the institution’s requirement for this course admission.
For bachelors in the library and information science (1-year program)
Candidates must have completed their graduations from any recognised university with a 12+3 education pattern.
Must have secured aggregate marks of minimum 55% in previous degree courses.
Individuals with any previous degree subject course can apply for bachelors in the library and information science.
For the admission process, either an entrance exam or the merit requirements must be met by candidates as per the requirement of the university applied to.
For masters and PhD in library and information science
Candidates must have secured minimum marks of 50% to 55% in B.LIS degree.
Must have completed a degree in B.LIS (Bachelor of Library and Information Science) for M.LIS admission.
Entrance test or merit-based eligibility criteria may apply to individuals depending on the university applied to.
Entrance Exams for Library and Information Science Course

Pondicherry University Entrance Exam- Pondicherry university conducts college entrance exams for admissions of bachelor in library and information science and masters and PhD in library and information science. The entrance test is held by the college every once in a year.
University of Delhi Entrance Exam- An entrance exam is conducted by Delhi University for admission to various courses, bachelors and masters in library and information science in particular. It is conducted every year by Delhi University for admissions to the university.
University of Calcutta Entrance Exam- The University of Calcutta conducts entrance exams for admissions to library and information science degree courses. The university held this exam every once in a year for all interest in pursuing this course subject at Calcutta university.
