What is Fine Arts

Undergraduate course in fine arts (Bachelor of Fine Arts), is a creative course that helps you channelize your passion and make it your career. Fine arts is the conversion of your imagination to an intangible/tangible art form, such as the lyrics of a song, the music to it, the production of a movie, or a painting, or a movie script.

Fine arts is further classified into visual art, creative art and performing art. It is an undergraduate program which enables an individual to earn name, fame, and money in their specialised field.

Eligibility Criteria (UG & PG) of Fine Arts

For UG Level

  • Interested Candidates must have passed 10+2 from a recognised board.

  • A minimum aggregate of 50-60% marks must be obtained in 10+2.

  • Some universities can have other eligibility criteria as well.


Entrance Exams for Fine Arts Course

  • Banaras Hindu University (BHU UET)- It is a university level entrance exam conducted for admission in various undergraduate courses. It is conducted in both online and offline mode. It is usually held in the month of June- August.

Note – The candidate must not be more than 22 years old while applying to BHU.

  • Delhi University Arts – There is no entrance exam for admission in Delhi University. The admission is given on the basis of merit list or cut off list provided by the University. A candidate can seek admission if they register online or offline and qualify the merit list. 

  • Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Exam (UPSEE– It is the university entrance exam conducted by AKTU. It provides admission in various undergraduate disciplines. It is an online mode examination which is generally conducted in the month of August- September.

  • Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University (JNU FAU) – It is an entrance exam conducted by JNU to provide admission in fine arts and design courses. It is conducted in the month of June- August.

Scope of Fine Arts in India and Abroad

With the development of various platforms such as YouTube, Instagram and OTTs, the requirement and employability of BFA students, who have a connection with the audience has increased. There’s a huge growth in the audience and therefore many young passionate individuals can follow fine arts to cater to the audiences’ needs. In recent scenarios, fine arts have got more recognition due to the overwhelming acceptance, the artists get from the audiences sitting across the globe. Course Curriculum for Fine Arts

Depending upon the specialisation, fine arts programmes are designed. Bachelor of Fine Arts is three to four years long. It is divided into 8 semesters. Every student has to choose a specialisation depending upon their interest to derive the maximum benefit from the fine arts course but initially, basic history and appreciation of all kinds of art are taught. This enriches the student with basic knowledge and gives a better outlook to finally choose a specialisation. 


The curriculum is developed to provide overall basic knowledge about all the art forms. About exam of Bachelor of fine arts

Hi,

The entrance exam of BHU UET for admission into B.A. arts course has a certain exam pattern. The examination level is of class 12 Orr equivalent. Examination is conducted both via online and offline mode and the time duration is of two hours. There are total of 120 questions asked in the entrance examination in the form of MCQs and the total marks of the examination is of 360 marks. There are over 60 questions asked from general knowledge and current affairs, 15 questions form reasoning and mental ability, 15 questions from numerical ability and 30 questions form comprehension part.
