Both GMAT and CAT exams are considered to be highly competitive. Therefore, it is difficult to measure which one is harder than the other as it depends on the individual strengths ,weaknesses, and personal preferences.

GMAT quant section is often considered to be easier, however, its verbal section is tougher for non-native English speakers. Whereas, CAT quant section is considered to be trickier in comparison to the verbal section. Therefore, students are advised to analyse both CAT and GMAT exam pattern carefully before opting for one.

Hello aspirant,

Every year, numerous candidates face a dilemma when deciding between CAT and GMAT, as the choice between these exams significantly influences their potential opportunities. While both CAT and GMAT pose high difficulty levels, GMAT is often viewed as less challenging than CAT due to its predefined syllabus. Additionally, candidates have the advantage of multiple attempts in GMAT, adding to its appeal.

Determining whether the CAT or GMAT is tougher depends on various factors.

CAT:

It assesses Quantitative Aptitude, data interpretation, verbal ability, and logical reasoning. It is specifically designed for admission to IIMs and other prestigious Indian business schools. CAT has high competition and time pressure. It consists of multiple and non multiple choice questions with a duration of 3 hrs.

GMAT:

It assesses analytical writing, integrated reasoning, Quantitative reasoning and verbal reasoning. It is acceptable by many business schools world wide. It is more standardized and recognized globally. It is a computer adaptive test, it has duration of 3 hours and 30 minutes.

To determine which is tougher can vary from person to person. Some may feel CAT is tough and some may feel GMAT is tough. You have to assess your strengths and weaknesses and career goals before deciding which exam to take.

Dear aspirant !

Hope you are doing good !

The overall difficulty level of the CAT is comparatively higher than GMAT because CAT's syllabus pattern is not well defined. Therefore, you need more preparation time for CAT when conversely it is possible to score 700+ on the GMAT with just a few days of dedicated preparation.

Hope you find it helpful !!

Thanking you !!
