You can not say that all NIT / IIIT are better than Anna  University.
As NIT  s like : NIT TRICHY
NIT CALICUT
NIT WARANGAL
NIT KURUKSHETRA
NIT JAIPUR
NIT AHMEDABAD
IIIT HYDERABAD
VIT EEE etc are better than Anna University ( when you compare overall ).
But if you stuck to one particular thing ( like infrastructure or facilities etc.) You may find Anna University better.
In some points Anna University is good in some points other colleges are good.
And one more thing you will get a tag of NIT / IIIT
