72 MonthsDoctor of Philosophy(Ph.D.) program in Assamese shall be for a minimum duration of three years, including course work, and a maximum of six years. Extension beyond the above limits will be governed by the relevant clauses as stipulated in the Statute/Ordinance of the individual Institution concerned offered by Bhattadev University, Bajali.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates for admission in the Ph. D. programs must have a Master’s degree in the concerned or an allied subject with at least 55% of marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade. A relaxation of 5% of marks or an equivalent relaxation of grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC/ Differently-abled (with equal to or more than 40% disability) as per UGC guidelines.
Admission Details
(a) The eligible candidates will be admitted by following a two-stage process. (i) All candidates seeking admission to the Ph. D. program must clear the Ph. D. Entrance Test to be conducted (in offline mode) by Bhattadev University (BU-PET) with qualifying marks. The syllabus of the entrance test will consist of General (50%) and Subject-specific (50%) questions. (ii) An interview will be organized by the University for those candidates who will have qualified the BUPET to determine the suitability of the candidates for Ph. D. admission. (b) Candidates who have cleared NET/SLET and other equivalent national tests are exempted from appearing in the written test. But, they have to appear in a personal interview.
