About Gauhati University
The Gauhati Institution Act 1947 (Assam Act, XVI of 1947) of the Government of Assam founded Gauhati University as a public state institution in 1948. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has given the university its approval. The Gauhati University has received an "A" grade from NAAC for accreditation.
The university currently has 359 colleges as affiliates. The courses of GU Guwahati include undergraduate, postgraduate diplomas, postgraduate, doctoral and integrated programmes. The Gauhati University offers a variety of courses, including M.A., M.Sc., M.B.A., M.Com., P.G.D., M.Lib.I.Sc., and others. For GU admission to PG programmes other than M.B.A., the university accepts grades from the most recent qualifying exams. Candidates are excluded from the entrance exam if they scored in the top 75 percentile in the CAT, MAT, XAT, and other national-level management exams. Candidates are ultimately chosen for PG courses based on their UG degree and entrance score. The selection criteria for M.B.A. admission include entrance exam results and performance in an individual interview and group discussion. Classrooms are equipped with the latest technology, including smartboards and high-speed internet. However, some older structures require renovations to match the newer buildings. The campus Wi-Fi, though generally dependable, can be slow during peak hours. Moreover, finding study spaces during exam periods can be challenging.

The university provides its students with all kinds of facilities and which are easily accessible. some departments have well-equipped labs. our library is very big and you will find all the books. It has WiFi, smart boards facilities. The canteen food is really good and hygienic.
