Davangere University is a state university which was established in the year 2009, and is among the youngest affiliate’s types of university in Karnataka. The university was set up with a purpose and vision to meet the educational aspirations of the people in the region. Both UG and PG courses are provided in the university for interested candidates. The university is recognized by AICTE and UGC, and it is spread over 73 acres of land space. Around 55 colleges are affiliated to the university.

Location

The university is located on State Highway 76, Tholahunase, Davanagere, Karnataka. Students and staff can reach the campus through various means of transport. They can reach by bus, air, train, taxi, as per their convenience and distance.

Recognition

The university is recognized by AICTE and UGC.

Clubs, Committees, and Societies

Various clubs and committees or societies are present through cells and clubs in the university. entertainment based clubs aren’t present in the university at this point of time. However, cells like SC/ST, NSS are made available to cater to students' needs.

NSS: National Service Scheme (NSS), was set up in the university in 2010. It aims to provide community services through education. Literacy programmes, workshops on social well-being, and educational seminars are conducted to provide encouragement and awareness among students.

ST/SC Cell: This cell was set up to cater to the needs of students belonging to the ST/SC category. Special attention is provided through the cell since they belong to the economically backward category. The cell is present to cater to the needs and assistance of the students.

Facilities

The university is equipped with the latest infrastructural facilities to cater to the academic learning of students. The classrooms are well-furnished, and equipped with WIFI connection. The facilities offered include hostel, library, sports, health care, and much more. The details are given below.

Library: The library is well-equipped with thousands of references, text books, and journals. Students and staff can use the library to make reference and enhance their knowledge. The library is also fully digitalized to make searches easier.

Hostel: Separate hostels are provided to boys and girls to cater to their accommodation needs. The hostels are equipped with WIFI, furniture, daily essentials and mess facilities are also provided.

Sports: The university offers both indoor and outdoor sports facilities for recreational purposes to students. They are highly encouraged to engage themselves in sports activities to help them stay physically and mentally active.

Healthcare: The health centre in the University is headed by a Visiting Medical Officer assisted by a full-time nurse at Shivagangotri Campus. It has the preliminary diagnostic facilities and provides health care to the faculty, staff, and students.

Admission

Admissions to various courses offered in the university are done on the basis of candidate’s merit or through entrance exam. However, the university offers most admission through university entrance exam and merit of previous course degree. The details and steps for admission in the university are given below.

1.     Fill the admission form and submit it.

2.     Appear for the required entrance exam.

3.     Meet the required cut-off score.

4.     Submit all required documents for verification.

5.     If selected, candidates must pay fees.

Scholarship

The university provides scholarship to students belonging in certain categories or through merit. Students can also avail scholarships outside the university from state and central government. They can apply for scholarships in their respective state also. Students of SC/ST/EWS are offered scholarships to provide financial aid and help them achieve their educational needs. Scholarships based on students' academic performance are also available for top performers. Another form of getting educational support is through banks, where educational loans can be availed by the student who aren’t eligible for scholarship benefits, but are in need of financial assistance.

Placement

A Training and Placement cell has been set up in the university to impart quality professional training and placement activity to students. The cell is dedicated to provide support, and assistance to students who wish to pursue a career in various fields. Career counselling and expert speakers on career are also made available to provide career guidance and enable students to choose the right career path for themselves. Skill development programs have also been conducted to improve, enhance, or develop professional skills of students. Over the years, several companies and organizations have conducted recruitment in the university. However, the percentage for the rate of recruitment is unavailable as of now.
