72 MonthsDoctor of Philosophy (PhD) is a full-time doctoral programme that offers research scholars opportunities for advanced studies and research in a different area of 'management'. The programme aims to prepare research scholars for careers in teaching and research in management studies, for careers in the academic institutions and in other related disciplines and organizations that require advanced analytical and research capabilities. The Programme offers its research scholars a unique opportunity to engage in high-quality intra-disciplinary as well as interdisciplinary research. The Programme is committed to educating scholars who will become leaders in their fields of research. The complete guidelines about Ph.D. are given in the Ph.D. Handbook which will be given to each scholar at the time of registration to the program.

Candidates must possess one of the following qualifications to apply for IIM Jammu’s doctoral program:
A Master's Degree (Bachelor’s degree obtained in 10+2+3 pattern, followed by a master’s degree) or a 5-year Integrated Master’s Degree (obtained after completing higher secondary schooling in 10+2 pattern) in any discipline, with at least 60*# percent marks in the Bachelor’s as well as in the Master’s degree.
Or
A professional qualification like CA, ICWA, CS, with at least 50*# percent marks.
Or
Five-year/four-year Integrated Master’s degree program in any discipline, with at least 60 percent marks, obtained after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.
Or
A four-year/8 semester Bachelor's degree (10+2+4 pattern) with at least 6.5 CGPA or equivalent marks.
* The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate would be calculated based on the practice followed by the respective University/Institution. In case of grades / CGPA, the conversion to percentage of marks would be based on the procedure certified by the respective University/ Institution. If a university/institution confirms that there is no scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by dividing the candidate’s CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the result by 100.
# Five percent marks relaxation is given to the applicants from EWS, SC, ST, NC-OBC and PwD categories.
Those who are appearing for their final year examination in the current academic year may also apply. However, their admission to the program will be provisional, subject to their successful completion of all requirements for obtaining the relevant degree before 30th June 2024. In addition, the applicant must have obtained a minimum of 50 percent marks in both secondary and higher secondary examination of a board or equivalent.
